This can be done through scoring, rebounds, assists, or even enthusiasm. Here are some key players to keep an eye on this season.
Bridger Hansen
Butte County, ID (Arco)
Bridger Hansen is a 5’8 senior point guard at Arco who averaged 18.5 points, 1.7 assists, 3.2 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 0.1 blocks per game. Although they lost their playoff game against Grace and didn’t make it to the state tournament last year, Hansen still finished the game with 21 points, 1 assist, and 4 rebounds. He also had some big games in the season scoring up to 45 points where he got on fire, shooting 8 for 9 from downtown and 7 for 11 from the field. Hansen has a high field goal percentage in most of his games and is an excellent 3 point shooter.
Paul Yenor
Middleton, ID (Ambrose)
Paul Yenor, a 6’2 forward at Ambrose, averaged 11.9 points, 2.1 assists, 7.9 rebounds, 2.6 steals, and 1.1 blocks last year as a junior. Yenor is a great all-around player and helped his team make it to the state tournament last year and the year before, winning 4th place their first year and consolation the next. He also does a great job on the boards, having several games with double-digit rebounding.
Covy Kelly
Garden Valley, ID
Standing at 6’0 and going into his junior year, Covy Kelly averaged 22.7 points, 2.1 assists, 6.2 rebounds, 3.2 steals, and 1.3 blocks during the 18-19 season. He is a versatile player and can play point guard, shooting guard, and shooting forward. Kelly scored in the triple digits a total of 9 times throughout the season, even scoring 38 points in a loss to Lighthouse Christian for the state championship. That’s pretty impressive putting up these numbers as a sophomore and guiding your team to a state championship. The next two seasons should be exciting to watch as he improves his game even more.
Kenyon Spotted Horse
Plummer, ID (Lakeside)
Playing the point/shooting guard positions and standing at 6’0, Kenyon is also an early bloomer who averaged 15.4 points, 1.9 assists, 5.5 rebounds, 4.8 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game last season as a sophomore. Kenyon is a solid player all around and is a nightmare on the defensive end, racking up steals. He ended the season with a total of 100 steals, shot 38% from downtown, 84% from the line, and 70% on field goals.
