The Word of God Holy Rams kicked off their 2019-20 season against New Life Christian on Tuesday night and for a while, it looked like things would be close until the Holy Rams opened things up down the stretch. In the end, Word of God took home a 83-61 victory. The Holy Rams led by eight before they really broke things open thanks to some big plays on defense and big dunks from 2020 guard Quandre Bullock and Michigan commit Isaiah Todd with about 1:30 left in the third quarter. Once they got things going from there, Word of God never looked back and increased the distance on the scoreboard. New Life Christian trailed by just six points at halftime.
Word of God was led by Todd’s 17 points while Bullock finished with 14 points, which all came in the second half. Hutchinson Community College commit Saiquone Harris finished with 15 points, knocking down one 3-pointer and getting to the free throw line as well.
New Life Christian was paced on offense by 2021 guard Alvin Singleton. He posted 16 points and drained four 3-pointers from deep. 2020 guard Dahaun Jones posted 12 points, all in the second half. 2021 guard Ricardo Polk finished with 11 points, all in the first half.
Word of God returns to action this Saturday, where they’ll participate in the Flight 22 Scrimmage at Methodist University. New Life Christian returns to action on Friday, when they host Brown Leadership Academy in their home opener.
