Thanksgiving is over and most of the tournaments from this week all reconvened. El Monte High School played host to a tournament this week and I was able to attend the event on the Friday after Thanksgiving.

There was a lot of solid talent in the building in the two matchups I watched between Garden and Orange Lutheran and then St. Francis and St. John Bosco. Here’s a look at some of the top players in the building.

1. Tibet Gorener – Orange Lutheran 2020

An incoming senior, Gorener is a very versatile player. He’s in the mold of a stretch big man that thrives in today’s offenses. He shoots very well from the outside and he can shoot with a defender rushing at him. He moves well without the ball to get open and is a catch and shoot player. Defenders respect his outside shot and he uses fakes to put the ball on the floor and attack the rim. Runs the floor well in transition and finishes strong at the rim.

2. Michael Frankling – Gardena 2020

Another incoming senior, Frankling is a very strong guard. He’s bigger than most other guards and he can get to the
