Each highlighted matchup brings something different to the table, and fans should take the opportunity to get an early look at some of their favorite teams and players.
Clayton HS @ Garner (11/19/19): This is an intriguing matchup as both of these teams have programs with basketball history and each have D1 prospects on their roster. Garner features 2022 Forward Asa White and 2020 Wing Christopher Nobles, both who have picked up D1 offers, while Clayton HS Guard/Forward BJ Freeman has a nice list of D1 programs that are hoping to land him when his college decision time comes, he will not be alone as they have added some impressive pieces but also return a solid prospect in 2021 Guard Justin Bell.
Grace Christian @ Fayetteville Christian (11/19/19): Both programs have college prospects and have got off to good starts this season with FCS holding a 3-1 record while GCS currently sits at 4-0. FCS features Senior Forwards Jaden Scriven & Daunte Gardner, although they aren’t the tallest front court, their strength and motor helps them to get the job done. GCS is led by their own group of seniors which includes the backcourt of Senior Guard Phil Martin and Jonah Murr, both are players that can fill it up scoring wise, while Senior Forward Allan Taylor has been a double/double machine.
The Burlington School @ Greensboro Day (11/19/19): Both of these squads are seen as State Championship contenders so we should be on the lookout for some fireworks in this matchup. GDS features a nice amount of guard talent as usual, some of the names you already know such as: Cam Hayes, Carson McCorkle, Brock Williams and Jaydon Young are all D1 signees or prospects. The Burlington School features one of the prospects on the rise in the Class of 2021 in Kuluel Mading, the 6’7 wing who has HM programs tracking him as well as recent Wichita State commit Jadun Michael who will reclass up to the class of 2020.
Pine Forest @ Jack Britt HS (11/18/19): This matchup could be labeled as the upperclassmen vs underclassmen battle as Jack Britt features a good amount of Seniors while Pine Forest is a young group. PFHS features 2023 Guard Isaiah Washington, who has a chance to compete as one of the top freshman in the East NC region as well as sharp shooting 2022 Guard Tristan Harkins. One of the few seniors on this PF squad is Guard Marquis Eskew who had quite a few big-time games last season and will be a player that provides leadership. Jack Britt features Senior Guard Langston Davis will be a player that will attempt to improve his recruiting stock this year as he will be counted on to produce for his team. 2022 Forward Demetri Patterson is another player to keep an eye on for the Bucs, he’s a young talented prospect with plenty of upside.
Millbrook @ Heritage (11/19/19): With this being the first game for both squads, we are truly excited about what potentially could be as both teams have some outstanding talent. Heritage HS returns some nice underclassmen talent as Junior Lucas Taylor averaged 14.1 PPG and Junior Forward Redford Dunton averaged 17 Points and 5 Rebs per last season. Millbrook is deep with talent once again featuring talent such as: New Mexico signee Nolan Dorsey, who is considered one of the top facilitating guards in the state, Junior Forward Will Felton who is a double/double machine that has multiple D1 offers and Junior Guard/Forward Eric Van Der Heijden who is a special prospect that has begun to blow up on recruiting radars over the last few months.
