Question:
What’s the biggest strength of your game?
Devan Wilson:
The biggest strength of my game personally I’d say is my shooting and ability to make plays. I love getting good looks from anywhere on the floor up to 25-28 feet out and making plays so my teammates can get good shots off.
Question:
What do you envision your role being on your high school team?
Devan Wilson:
I see me being a big leader to a somewhat new/young team this year and having to bring a new role of leadership to the team. I also see myself being one of our go to guys on the floor when the games in tight spots.
Question:
Do you have any personal goals for this season?
Devan Wilson:
Personally my goals are to be an all-conference guard and get an all-state honorable mention. I feel this off-season I’ve really locked in and separated myself from others and done more than any other season to get ready for a big junior year.
Question:
What are your teams’ goals this year?
Devan Wilson:
Our team goal is most definitely to bring some hardware to Grand Ledge and win the conference, districts and make a run in regionals. It’s been since 2004 that we have seen a district championship and we are looking to change that.
Question:
Who are a few teammates of yours that fans should look out for?
Devan Wilson:
I feel our team is truly more talented then most people believe this year and I love every bit of it. Jarred Houghton will be a big key to our success and fans need to be ready to hear more of that name. I believe Jarred and I will make a big splash in the CAAC Blue this year and draw some more attention to Grand Ledge High School.
Question:
What do you think will be your teams strengths?
Devan Wilson:
I believe our teams strengths is most definitely our guard play. We have very strong guard play with me and Jarred and will be a very fast and up and down team. High intensity defense and push the ball fast.
Question:
Any games your looking forward to this season?
Devan Wilson:
This year we are most definitely looking forward to playing Williamston and Okemos. Okemos being back to back conference champions and Williamston having some guards in their backcourt with division 1 offers and will just be a great opportunity to prove ourselves.
Question:
What makes your coach a great leader?
Devan Wilson:
Our coach Travis Schellhammer is a first year varsity coach after being the assistant for the past 9 years, but he is more experienced and ready to go then ever. He’s a very uptight but at the same time a relaxed players coach. We all love him and the way he gets to us as players and won’t give up on us ever, really makes him a great leader.
