Who is the early favorite?
The early favorites to win the NAC 6 this season are the Heritage Huskies. After seeing the Wakefield Wolverines take home the conference regular season with a 9-1 record, things will be wide open with a ton of newcomers in their rotation. On the flip side, the Huskies return junior duo Red Dunton and Lucas Taylor as well as Alvin Campbell and Tre Waller in the rotation, giving them a ton of talent to work with in 2019-20. Keep an eye out for 2022 point guard Justin Monden as well, who could be a solid contributor off the bench.
Wakefield in rebuild mode
After going 24-5 in 2018-19, things will look a lot different for the Wakefield Wolverines but they still have seniors Vernon Fraley Jr. and Brenon Rogers to build with this season. Don’t be surprised if their production outside of them comes from some sophomore talent in the rotation. A few names to look out for are 2022s Liam Witchey, a 6-foot-5 forward, and Jaxon Brown, a 6-foot crafty guard. Another to look out for is junior forward Harper Strickland. They’ll have some new contributors in 2019-20 but don’t count them out just yet.
Don’t sleep on Rolesville
One team to keep an eye on in the NAC 6 is the Rolesville Rams. The Rams have senior forward Brandon Johnson and Brandon Williams in frontcourt and junior guard Donovan Martin returning in the backcourt. With guards Jaylin Mathis, Bishop Radway, Darien Long among others to work with in their backcourt, don’t be surprised if they finish at the top of the conference standings in the end.
It will be a competitive race for the NAC 6 crown in 2019-20 with a number of teams having good odds to win it. There’s tons of potential from a number of teams in the conference.
