Will Millbrook repeat as regular-season champions?
The Millbrook Wildcats went 12-0 in Cap 7 play this past regular season but did fall in the conference tournament to Leesville Road. This season, the Wildcats are back and better than ever led by Nolan Dorsey, Will Felton, Jalen McCoy, Adam Carey and Eric van der Heijden. They’ll face bigger challenges with Leesville Road, Enloe and Cardinal Gibbons but they shouldn’t be a surprise for them considering the title hopes that loom. With a deeper group that last season, this Wildcats bunch will be a talented one from top to bottom.
Leesville Road still an underdog
After getting a year under his belt, 2021 guard Carter Whitt returns in 2019-20 this time with 2021 wing Jalen McDonald in their rotation. With them in the lineup, it will give the Pride a solid one-two combination to work with in their backcourt. 2021 guard Chase Hakerem is also another player to keep an eye on in their backcourt as a playmaker and scorer. They may pose a bigger threat this season for Millbrook after upsetting them late in the season.
Enloe due for a strong season
After a 1-win season in Cap-8 play, the Enloe Eagles will be a team to watch in 2019-20. 2020 guard Ezkieal Barry will have some help in the rotation this season from 2022 wing Comeh Emuobor and 2020 guard Tashuad Alexander also returns for Enloe this season. They have some experience returning which should make them a competitive squad. They’re a team that shouldn’t be taken lightly this year, that’s for sure.
Keep an eye on Cardinal Gibbons’ backcourt
The Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders have quite the backcourt duo in Brady Whilden and Michael Boney. They’re two scrappy guards to watch that both can create off the dribble and finish tough in traffic. It will be interesting to see how both seniors play in their final seasons.
