The high school season is almost here in the state of Illinois!  With that we look at some of the top conferences throughout the state and some of the prospects in those conferences!  Today it is the Central State Eight!

Preseason Player of Year

James Dent (Springfield Southeast)

Dent played a complimentary role last season for Southeast.  This year he will step into the primary offensive weapon role.  He showcased over the summer that he is ready to do that with his ability to score from the perimeter.  One of the top shooters in the state with his ability to knock down shots from beyond the arc.  Such a feathery jumper!

Preseason Conference Favorite

It’s hard not to give Lanphier the nod here.  They have the history, coaching, and a deep team.  Their two best prospects are underclassmen in sophomore shooting guard Tye Banks and freshman point guard Tevonta Jackson.  The depth of wings and lengthy forwards should make them a really good defensive team.  Normal U-High has a dynamic leader at the point in Alex Wood that can carry his team to a win over anyone in a one game scenario.  Kaden Stork is an intriguing sophomore
