In this article, we will be taking a look at the Desert Southwest. MVP and all-conference team selections are based on last season’s production and this season’s potential.
Conference Champs: Bishop Gorman – The Gales have been the dominant force in the state for most of these players’ lives. Even with the loss of their top 2 bigs, they are still the odds on favorite to win the conference.
MVP: Zaon Collins 6’1 PG Bishop Gorman 2021 (#2 2021) – It was just a matter of what Gorman guard I was going to pick. Collins has the ball in his hands and is the engine that makes the team go, so I’ll give him the nod.
Top Unsigned Senior: M’Wani Wilkinson 6’5 SF Bishop Gorman (#4 2020)
Top Underclassmen: Osiris Grady 6’6 PF Silverado 2023 (#2 2023)
Sleeper: Kendrick Gilbert 6’4 PF Durango 2020 (#32 2020)
Sleeper Team: Durango – This team has a quiet confidence about them. One of the best backcourts in the state combined with some lethal scorers comming of the bench.
Game of the year: 1/9/20 Silverado vs Bishop Gorman– Silverado has state championship ambitions. They are a talented team, and one of the few that has the size and length to match up with Gorman. This will be their first major test.
