Schools graduated many All-Conference players but there is a new wave of players ready and waiting to take over as the new stars. Come the 2019-2020 regular season, the Colonial Conference will have some new household names and it starts with these players.
Tesean Pressley (2020) | 6’3 SG | Haddon Heights
Pressley solidified his spot as one of the conference’s best scorers last season. He finished with 20 or more points in 10 games. At 6’3, Pressley’s skill set is made for offense. In his senior season, Pressley will look to become one of the conference’s top overall players.
Brandon Ratcliffe (2020) | 6’1 SG | West Deptford
After succeeding on the basketball court, Ratcliffe decided to try his hand at football and he is now West Deptford’s new standout at the kicking position. Come winter, he will be one of the conference’s top players. Ratcliffe scored in double-figures in all but three games last season. He is already an All-Conference basketball player once. He has the chance to add another as a senior.
Mekhi Bassett (2022) | 6’3 SF | Collingswood
Bassett set a nice tone for his high school career last season. As a freshman, Bassett scored over 400 points and was one of the leaders on Collingswood. At 6’3, Bassett is a born athlete who is destined for great things and he is off to a flying start. Bassett doubles as a football players in the fall. Come basketball season, he will look to repeat his success of his freshman season. Bassett is one of many talented under classmen in the Colonial Conference.
Tazir Cantey (2021) | 6’0 PG | Lindenwold
Lindenwold had a personal show every night when Cantey stepped on the floor. He is one of the purest scorers in the state and that is why Cantey will be one of the best juniors in New Jersey this season. As a sophomore, Cantey finished with 15 games of 20 or more points and five games of 30 or more. In a late season game against Maple Shade, Cantey dropped 55 points in a 99-61 win. The skill of this guard is undeniable and he has not even played a season as an upper classman yet.
Keyshun Sanders (2022) | 5’11 PG | Paulsboro
Like Bassett, Sanders is a freshman that made a name for himself in a big way. The point guard did it on both ends of the floor. Sanders started off his career by scoring near 400 points and collecting over 100 assists and 100 steals in his first season. This included an 18 point, 10 steal double-double in a win over Florence. He followed that up with nine steals in Paulsboro’s next contest. Sanders is a thief. This is a player who loves to be on defense and that is a special trait at such a young age. Sanders has a high ceiling and can be one of the conference’s top players as a sophomore.
