Wildwood Catholic was named as the Courier Post Team of the Year last season and it was largely because of their two-headed monster. Thweatt is the first head. In a 27-2 season, Thweatt scored in double-figures in every game and finished with 20 or more points in 18 of them. The West Virginia commit is a big body small forward with outside shooting ability and can handle the ball with big impact. The Mountaineers are getting a gem of a player but he first has some unfinished business in high school. Wildwood Catholic fell short of a state sectional title but they were able to play with Ranney up until the end.
Jahlil White (2020) | 6’6 SF | Wildwood Catholic
With Bryan Antoine and Scottie Lewis now in college, Wildwood Catholic has a chance to grab that state title that has eluded them. Thweatt will be a big part but he has some help in fellow top-10 player Jahlil White. He is heading to Temple next season and the Owls are getting a strong, athletic player who can run the floor and finish in traffic. It is impossible to put one of these players above the other when looking at their numbers. White is a pure scorer who can get to the free throw line and fill up the stat sheet in many ways. Wildwood Catholic will be a must-see team whenever they step on the floor.
Elijah Jones (2021) | 6’7 C | Pleasantville
As a sophomore, Jones played a key role on Pleasantville. He will be one of the top juniors in New Jersey this season. Pleasantville will have a breakout player this season. Jones is a big body but his skill set does not match his size. Jones is a center who can do prototypical center things but his ball handling is well beyond that of a 6’7 big man. This will be a highly valued prospect beginning this season and gaining traction after the season heading into his final year.
Christian Kalinowski (2020) | 6’2 SG | Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit had a team last year that could shoot from anywhere on the floor. It began with Kalinowski. He was a leader as a junior and will be one of the team’s main options in 2019-2020. Kalinowski has the ability to shoot from deep but can drive to the basket if defenders step out too far. It will be a senior season to remember for Kalinowski if all goes right.
Najee Coursey (2020) | 6’4 SF | Cedar Creek
Cedar Creek has a scoring threat in Coursey once he steps off the bus. As a junior, Coursey chipped in multiple 30-point games including a season-high 34 in a win over Winslow. He knocked down 17 free throws in the win. Coursey showed his ability to get to the basket and draw fouls which is a skill in its own right. Coursey is a smart player on the court and a smart student in the classroom. He has all the signs of a great leader and that is what Cedar Creek will rely on him to be.
