While that advice is applicable, I certainly would be remised if I ignored the little guys. In this article, PH takes a look at some of the top players under 6’0.
Anthony Hunter 5’11 Durango 2020 – Little guy that plays with a big heart. Elite run and jump athlete that can finish at the rim. Hunter is an elite lockdown perimeter defender.
Travis Thomas 5’8 Foothills 2020 – Knockdown shooter that can put up numbers in a hurry. Combo guard because of his ability to create shots for himself.
Dante Davis 5’10 Liberty 2020 – One of the strongest players in the state pound for pound. Broad shoulders with the ability to get consistent paint touches. Big time on-ball defender.
Lorenzo Abellar 5’8 Liberty 2021– Pitbull defender, that doubles as a tempo changing guard. He and Davis create a devastating defensive backcourt for Liberty.
Lucas Walker 5’11 Moapa Valley 2021– Shifty PG that is the engine of his team. Excellent passer that puts his teammates in positions to get easy buckets.
Joseph Summers 5’11 Carson City 2021 – One of the shiftest players in the state. Has all the little moves to freeze defenders. Hesitations, pump fakes, and pass fakes are all part of his repertoire.
Semaj Threats 5’9 Desert Pines 2021 – Physical specimen that can dominate a game with his scoring and defense. Threats has the ability to take over games for a talented DP team this year.
Xakime Milton 5’8 Centennial 2021 – Perhaps the fastest player in the state from end to end. Lighting quick PG with great breakdown ability.
DJ Turner 5’11 Shadow Ridge 2021 – Tough competitive pure PG. Two-way player that can create shots and neutralize opposing ballhandlers.
Court Ballinger 5’10 Bishop Montegue 2021 – Scrappy hard-nosed player that does a little of everything. One of the best undersized rebounders in the state.
Damion Byrd 5’10 Silverado 2022 – Cerebral PG with a natural ability to run a team. Great penetrator who understands how to make the correct decision
Tavionte Jackson 5’8 PG Las Vegas 2022 – Scoring machine that can beat you with his jumper or off the bounce. One of the highest scoring freshmen in the state last season.
