Caylen Goff-Brown 2022 Tulsa Central guard
Caylen Goff-Brown was outstanding Saturday for the Braves. The sophomore took leadership on the floor with his passing capabilities and off with his vocal leadership. Goff-Brown made light work of penetrating opposing defenses and dishing the ball to his scoring teammates. His speed in traffic was impressive, and it allowed him to put defenses in a blender before giving the ball off to a cutter or post player. He has a high basketball iQ and showed the talent he’ll be providing on-floor for Tulsa Central this season.
Jeremiah Johnson 2023 Putnam City North point guard
Newcomer Jeremiah Johnson was one of the brightest freshman at the showcase. He appeared collected and confident with his on-ball role as he swung the ball to his teammates all day, making more than a few impressive plays in transition. Johnson handles and passes the ball well in movement. He also distributes especially well near the rim and has great chemistry with his front court teammates. If Saturday was indicative of what Johnson will be able to achieve in PC North’s offense this season, the Showcase bodes well for the Panthers’ success.
Bryce Thompson 2020 Booker T. Washington guard
For the top-ranked player in the state, things just come a little easier. As for 6-foot-5-inch senior Bryce Thompson, making brilliant passes is routine. His vision is elite, and he sees passing lanes developing like a simple math equation before him. It’s no secret that Thompson is capable of just about anything on the floor, but he still manages to leave on-lookers awe-struck with his incredible iQ.
Jordan Thompson 2020 Southmoore point guard
Jordan Thompson was terrific in distributing the ball on the fast-break on Saturday. Thompson has incredible floor vision and has an arm for down-court plays in transition. He’s accurate, diligent and sometimes seems to have eyes in the back of his head. He even has a knack for tossing lobs in the half-court, even in the absence of his 6-foot-8 teammate, Sam Godwin, who sat out Saturday with a nagging injury.
