There are a ton of committed prospects, but still quality group of players that have not found their college homes yet. We will break each group down by position. Here are the Best Available 2020 Small Forwards.
Jayden Johnson (Batavia)
Overall Rank: #14
Someone get this dude a scholarship at the D1 level! Every year there is one or two guys that I advocate are significantly under recruited. This is one of them. All the dude does is produce against whoever he plays and is one of the best shooters in the state of Illinois period! Holds multiple D2 offers, but will play his senior season out to see if a D1 comes to the table.
Jeremiah Williams (Simeon)
Overall Rank: #15
Williams took officials to Valpo and Akron along with an unofficial to Southern Illinois this fall. He maintains that he will not sign early and hold off on making a college decision to see what other schools get involved. Slashing wing with a great frame and should be one of the go to scorers for the Wolverines this year.
Will Wolfe (Aurora Christian)
Overall Rank: #18
Wolfe is another player we don’t quite understand why there isn’t more recruiting interest. He produced with the Illinois Wolves on the UAA circuit. Excellent shooter from mid-range that can stretch it out to three. Brings toughness to the table on the boards and slashing.
Christian Shumate (Bloom)
Overall Rank: #20
Elite level athlete that might be the best dunker in the state. He more than just that though. Excellent rebounder and defender that uses his length and athleticism to make an impact on the defensive end of the floor. Jump shot has shown some improvement, but that is the area a lot of coaches will be tracking this season.
Dominic Martinelli (Glenbrook South)
Overall Rank: #43
Martinelli is one of the most unique players in the state. The crafty left handed small forward doesn’t wow you with athleticism, but he absolutely produces every time he hits the floor. Finishes with nifty finishes in the paint!
Marcus Skeete (Waubonsie Valley)
Overall Rank: #45
Powerfully built left handed combo forward that improved his body and all-around game during the spring and summer with Hoops Intensity Training. Range on shot has gotten better. Rebounds well and is efficient in the paint.
Paul Zilinskas (Riverside Brookfield)
Overall Rank: #50
Such a skilled prospect that has a crisp pull up jump shot which he knocks down with consistency. Handles have made great strides along with his ability to see the floor as a distributor.
Jimarius Sneed (Curie)
Overall Rank: #67
Powerful and athletic slashing small forward. When he gets a head of steam behind him he is a tough cover going downhill.
Connor Heaton (Central A&M)
Overall Rank: #68
Heaton made noise in the small school state tournament last year with his versatility. Solid size with the ability to shoot it and put the ball on the deck.
Cameron Doughtery (Naperville Central)
Overall Rank: #81
Doughtery is a plus athlete that plays above the rim. Has athletic pop with the ability to defend multiple spots.
Taurean Holtam (Rock Island)
Overall Rank: #82
Holtam emerged with QC Ballers on the travel team circuit. Big forward with broad shoulders. He has the looks of a college prospect along with the game. Upside at the small college level.
Nick Erickson (Hampshire)
Overall Rank: #93
The 6’6” wing is a plus shooter and showed athletic pop off the bounce. Put his name on the map this summer with IBA Mann.
Armond Williams (Curie)
Overall Rank: #94
Williams is a well-built small forward that is a plus athlete. His biggest impact is made on the defensive end and on the glass. Flashes as a transition finisher.
Daulton Burgner (Belleville Althoff)
Overall Rank: #96
Burgner is a skilled and tough metro east forward that has a solid shot from 15 feet. Rebounds well for his position and does the little things well.
