Moravian Prep has been dominant! Led by the duo of NC State commits, the squad has got to a 5-0 start while competing against some very good teams. Josh Hall has shown that he is as good as advertised and Shakeel Moore has shown his ability to dominate both sides of the floor.
Trinity Christian is young but good! The Crusaders are another team that’s gotten off to a great start at 4-0 and will see a tough test this week against rival Village Christian. With a squad that features a high amount of young talent, it’s expected that the squad would struggle but they haven’t had much growing pains. Keep an eye on 2022 Guards Freddie Dillione, Cam Oates and Jamari McDougald as they all have a chance to be special.
Westover HS has a chance to be 3A Champs! The Wolverines started off their season with a blowout of Douglas Byrd HS and have all the chances to be successful. With two players (Traymond Willis-Shaw & D’Marco Dunn) that already hold D1 offers and two other players (Isaiah Bridges & Darius Jewell) that should be scholarship level guys, you can see why there is a lot of excitement on the Westside.
Don’t doubt Henderson Collegiate! If you look at the record of 2-5 you would think they are off to a slow start. However they have played one of the toughest schedules in the state with the majority of their games being on the road or at neutral sites. Once they get into NCHSAA 1A play, we fully expect the squad to be rolling at full pace.
Freedom Christian is 7-0! The team that reached the state semis have a new look to them but picked up right where they left off last season as far as winning. 2020 Guard Manrique Alvarado is one of the only returners from last season but he’s been playing at a very high level which includes a 16 Point, 8 rebound performance in a win over Fayetteville Christian.
