St. Charles North blitzed Richwoods from the jump coming out with an 18-2 lead. Richwoods made a little run early in the second half, but it wasn’t enough as St. Charles North won 71-51. Here are our 5 Key Questions: St. Charles North vs Peoria Richwoods!
Did Bradley Get a Steal in Connor Linke?
Yes! The trajectory of the North Stars big man has been going up gradually since the spring with Fundamental U. Bradley extended an offer and got it done this fall. They have to be happy with what they are seeing early in the season out of the 6’9” senior center. He was a beast in the first quarter scoring eight quick points. Fundamentally sound footwork, seals in the high/low, and uses the glass on his hook shots. Quick and assertive moves when the ball touches his hands. Hit a corner three as well. Flashes face up ability mostly as a shooter and passer. Excellent screener and roller to the hoop. Defensively he rebounds in traffic and was a shot blocking presence. He had 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks. We had heard he has gotten even better since we last saw him in July. That is very true!
Where Does Luke Scheffers Rank Among Top Uncommitted PGs?
Currently we have St. Charles North point guard Luke Scheffers as the 2nd highest ranked available floor general in the senior class. The 2020 lead guard is a ball screen savant with the way he operates around them with his passing and pull up shooting. High level mid-range shooter with fluid mechanics. His vision and basketball IQ are off the charts being able to pass on the move with either hand. He had 13 points and a ton of dimes!
Who are the Impact Role Players for St. Charles North?
This team is more than just the two star seniors. Another 2020 point guard they have is Christian Czerniak. Love the flair this kid plays with. Has a swagger to him and wants to make the exciting, but correct play. He had multiple bullet passes for assists. Also was a quality spot up shooter from three going for 11 points. Really good small college guard target. Thomas Kellen is the junk yard dog glue guy that has a thick body and finished in traffic for 8 points. Colin Nelson is a marksman from three as the lefty drained three triples! Ethan Marlowe is an intriguing sophomore at 6’6” with a projectable frame.
What is Ceiling for St. Charles North this Season?
St. Charles North is a team that can be a sleeper come March with the chance to upset someone. With the inside-outside duo of Scheffers and Linke along with a group of role players who are already buying into their jobs this is a dangerous team! Pontiac is always a big test for them.
What is Upside for Richwoods Sophomore Jamauri Winfrey?
The standout for Richwoods was their sophomore wing Jamauri Winfrey. With Winfrey he brings plus athleticism and strength to the table. Finishes with bounce around the cup. The area that made an impression on us was growth as a perimeter player. Hit a mid-range jumper and three. If he can combine an outside game with his power game he can rise in the 2022 class.
