Continue ReadingThroughout the summer and fall players have been training, practicing and playing, all in an effort to put forth a great school season. And now they have the opportunity to put all of their hard work on display. As we embark on the beginning of the 2019-2020 basketball season, let’s take a look at 7 more unsigned seniors that I will keep a close eye on (in no particular order). Get EXCITED! It’s that time of year again!!
- Jemarcus Holt – 6’5 Wing – Elkins High School
Holt is a swiss army knife on the court. There is absolutely nothing that he cannot do on the court. He is a crafty rebounder, he is able to score on all three levels and is able to defend multiple positions. Anything that a team needs from him, he can provide at a high level.
- John Shanu II – 6’10 Center – Sam Houston High School
One thing that you cannot teach is SIZE, and big John definitely was blessed with that. At 6’10, it should go without question that John can rebound and finish at the rim. But he also effectively protects the rim on defense and it is evident that he worked on being stronger in the paint over the summer.
- Jayshon Cannon – 6’7 Forward – Aldine Davis High School
The growth of the kid’s game has been tremendous to witness. His off season work is now bearing fruit as Cannon now plays much stronger and much more aggressively. He blocks shots, dunks in traffic, is able to stretch the floor with his shooting and rebounds effectively.
- Tim Moore Jr – 6’6 Forward – Madison High School
Tim is an extremely athletic stretch four that is capable of playing on the wing. He has a soft touch from outside and can shoot off the dribble. But his bread is buttered when he is in attack mode. When activated, Tim makes highlight plays at the rim and gets to the free throw line often.
- Reggie Comeaux – 6’5 Forward – Nimitz High School
Comeaux is another SUPER athletic kid whose athleticism is highly noticeable as soon as he walks in the gym. Reggie is really strong and he is extremely explosive with his movements. He has the ability to jump over defender to get his shot off and plays with a high motor.
6. RJ Crawford – 6’5 Guard – Langham Creek High School
Crawford is a crafty player that finds creative ways to be effective on the offensive end. He is a capable shooter from deep and finishes at the rim, through traffic with regularity. Due to his size and unique skill set, he can play multiple positions, including point guard, which is a huge advantage.
7. Lonzo Rand – 6’2 PG – Westfield High School
Having a player that can do multiple things on the floor well is a luxury that not all teams have. Westfield does not have that problem as Lonzo Rand can lead this team in multiple statistical categories. He can score on all three levels, he has good vision, he is a willing passer and he is a good perimeter defender.
