BEST ATHLETE | ELLIOTT BLACK | 6’6 F | SSSAS ‘22
Black has physical tools you can’t teach. He boasts a sturdy build with broad shoulders and long arms. As we saw during the scrimmage, Black has good burst, the ability to palm the ball and dunk in traffic.
BEST DEFENDER | CHASE BEASLEY | 6’6 G | SSSAS ‘20
Beasley was best on the defensive end where he was constantly active and used his length to be disruptive. He was particularly effective at guarding around the rim. Beasley did work on the boards as well.
BEST FINISHER | JARED CROSS | 6’2 G | SSSAS ‘20
Cross is known as a reliable shooter but continues to show that he is a competent finisher around the basket. He has good body control and he doesn’t mind contact at all. Cross has great touch and can finish high off the glass in traffic.
BEST INTANGIBLES | JAMAL BARNES | 6’4 G | SSSAS ‘20
Barnes was a constant vocal presence whether he was on the court or the bench. He keeps the ball moving, plays solid team defense, and makes winning plays in general.
BEST POST SCORER | ANDRE SCREEN | 6’10 C | SSSAS ‘20
Anytime Screen gets a touch in the post, good things are bound to happen. The Bucknell commit is a post technician with good footwork and touch. Screen is also a good passer out of the post.
BEST RIM PROTECTOR | JOHN IZEMEF | 6’9 C | NCA ‘21
Izemef struggled with early foul trouble but got into a nice groove defensively. He used his long arms to stay vertical and make things difficult for opponents who challenged him at the rim. Izemef played with a high motor throughout the scrimmage and blocked close to a half dozen shots.
BEST SHOOTER | ALLEN BONNER | 6’0 G | NCA ‘20
Bonner is a lefty who shot it well for the Eagles. He is best as a catch and shoot guy from spot-up situations. Bonner hit a game-high 5 threes.
BEST TWO-WAY PLAYER | JAKAI ROBINSON | 6’4 G | NCA ‘21
It took a while for Robinson to get going offensively, but his effort on the defensive end was commendable. He was consistently active on the boards, defended well on the perimeter and even showed that he can protect the rim. Offensively, Robinson demonstrated a tight handle and the ability to create his shot at will. He gets great elevation on his jumper and can pull up on a dime.
BEST UNDERCLASSMEN | GARRETT BRENNAN | 6’1 G | SSSAS ‘22
Brennan is considered one of the best shooters on the team but found other ways to impact the game despite his shot not falling. He is a reliable playmaker who isn’t afraid to get on the floor and win a 50/50 ball.
BEST UNSIGNED SENIOR | OUMAR KOUREISSI | 6’8 F | NCA ‘20
With a handful of division one offers under his belt, Koureissi showed why he’s one of the best-unsigned seniors in the area. He is a highly-skilled forward who can do it all offensively. Koureissi has good defensive potential when you consider the fact that he has good length and is comfortable switching onto smaller opponents.
