For the past three weeks, I have been contacting a slew of talent in the state to ask which coaches have stopped by to see them in open gym.
And as always, college coaches have either put offers on the table or put in a plan for the prospects to come on unofficial or official visits.
Here’s what I have from this week:
Kennedy Chandler, Briarcrest (2021): Missouri and Arkansas were in Memphis this week to see the star-studded point guard. Kentucky head coach John Calipari also stopped by on Monday to see Chandler. Chandler attended Memphis Madness on Thursday night as a recruit.
Jalen Brown, Wooddale (2021): South Alabama and Missouri stopped by to see the 6-foot-4 scoring guard. Brown picked up an offer from the Tigers.
Zion Swader, Seigel (2021): UT-Chattanooga and Western Carolina came to see Swader and his teammate Matthew Schneider (6-5).
Matthew Sells, Livingston Academy (2021): Western Carolina stopped by on Friday to see Sells.
Michael Malone Jr., Briarcrest (2020): Western Carolina stopped by to see the 6-3 point guard.
Reese McMullen, Christian Brothers (2021): Western Carolina and Murray State stopped by to see McMullen.
Chandler Jackson, Christian Brothers (2022): Murray State stopped by to see Jackson.
Grant Slatten, White County (2021): Western Carolina stopped by to see Slatten for an early workout Friday morning.
Bayron Matos, Hamilton Heights Christian Academy (2020): The 6-8 forward will be on an official visit to New Mexico this weekend. West Virginia was in on Wednesday to see the former Mississippi State commit. The Bulldogs and St. John’s have also stopped by recently to see Matos. Virginia Tech is interested as well.
Samson Ruzhenstuv, Hamilton Heights Christian Academy (2020): The 6-7 wing committed to the University of Florida on Friday afternoon. He chose the Gators over Ole Miss, Stanford and Georgia Tech.
Alden Applewhite, Houston (2021): The 6-6 combo guard picked up an offer from Mississippi State. Ole Miss and Alabama are expected to come see Applewhite soon.
Randy Brady, Brentwood Academy (2021): Louisville and Iowa State stopped by to see Brady.
Kaeden Laws, Center Hill (2021): Southern Miss and a few other schools have stopped by to see Laws in recent weeks.
Kameron Jones, ECS (2021): Evansville stopped by on Friday to see Jones. The 6-4 guard picked up an offer from the program over the summer.
Wes Maples, Sevier County (2020): Maples went on an unofficial visit to North Georgia last weekend. Here’s what he had to say about the visit: “It was good. They have a nice facility.” Maples mentioned to me that an offer is expected when the season starts.
Alex Anderson, Tipton-Rosemark Academy (2021): North Alabama and George Washington stopped by to see the 6-6 wing. Anderson is planning take an unofficial visit to Louisville soon.
Moussa Cisse, Lausanne (2021): The 6-11 big man picked up an offer from LSU this week. Kentucky head coach John Calipari also stopped in to see Cisse. Calipari has Cisse at the top of his list of recruits for the 2021 class. He was also one of many recruits at Memphis Madness on Thursday night.
