Updated Class of 2021 Rankings Coming Soon!
We are still sorting things out but in the near future, the long-awaited Class of 2021 rankings will be released. The group of now juniors has been ballyhooed as one of the most talent-laden classes in state history for awhile, maybe going as far back as 2010 that featured Terrence Jones and Terrance Ross (Jefferson), Garrett Jackson (Westview), Stephen Holt (Jesuit), and Jordan Railey (Beaverton).
At least six Class of 2021 prospects have already garnered Division I scholarship offers and it wouldn’t be surprising to see as many as ten earning the chance to play at college basketball’s highest level by the time their senior seasons are over.
While the list is not yet finalized, here are some key things to note.
Still On Top Is…
Nate Bittle of Crater. Not much of a shocker, the now 6-foot-11 post with the 7-foot-4 inch wingspan is ranked nationally in the Top 15 and has more scholarship offers than he can count on both hands, including most all of the top programs on the West Coast. He’s already started taking official visits with trips to Arizona and UCLA and has found time in his busy schedule to continue training with USA Basketball.
Right Behind Is…
Ben Gregg, now at Clackamas. Another guy who’s placement is not much of a surprise, the 6-foot-8 wing has proven himself as a Top 100 player nationally and has also picked up a whole host of Division I scholarship offers. He recently made his first official visit to Oregon State and more may come during the basketball season, one in which is appears that Gregg will have no issues adjusting to the 6A level.
From There It’s…
Wide open. You’ll have to wait for the updated rankings but there will definitely be some movement. Guys that are in the mix for the Top Five will be Nathan Rawlins-Kibonge and Kam Robinson of Jefferson, Darius Gakwasi of Central Catholic, Drew Carter of Tigard, Damonte Burns of Parkrose, Josh Baugher of Santiam Christian, and Trace Salton of Lake Oswego.
Moving On Are…
Wayne McKinney and Rayven Turner, due to moves. McKinney, previously at Lake Oswego, will be at Coronado High School in the San Diego area after moving there with his family and Turner, previously at Jefferson, will be at Mountain Brook High School in Alabama. Both would have been ranked in the updated Top Ten for sure.
New Names…
As we have watched both AAU and high school ball since the season ended, we have spotted quite a few players that will be added to the 2021 rankings. The updated list should be at least 50 or 60 players deep once we have gotten everything sorted out and will obviously grow even larger once practice officially starts and the season begins. Be sure to stay tuned!
