Izayah Elize- Frederick
Izayah is a guy I have heard a lot about and finally got a chance to see at Prep Hoops 250. He did not disappoint, he used his shifty handles to get to the bucket and finish with finesse. He is very athletic at 6’3, he can get up and dunk the ball. When you think he is only going to attack inside he’ll hit a step-back three. His combo of handles and athleticism make him a really good combo guard.
Gianno Flores- Montbello
Gianno is an exciting player to watch, despite not being a super athlete he makes up for it with his crafty game. He has nice handles, can shoot well from the outside, and has sneaky finishes around the bucket. One time I saw him go off for 5 buckets in a row using a variety of moves to score. Watch out for him as his role should step up this year with Montbello losing some key seniors.
AJ Hutchison- Frederick
AJ is a bulky guard, he is built like a football player but hoops just like everyone else. Once he starts going downhill there’s not much stopping him, his best ability is getting to the rim. He is a floor general who is always a threat to score or find an open man on the fast break.
Darrian Hammonds- George Washington
Darrian is the true definition of a combo guard, he can take the ball up the floor, run the offense, or attack the rim. He has a good ability to finish with both hands at the rim. Many times I have seen him finish through heavy contact for “and 1” finishes. This year watch out for him to get a lot of assists and some buckets of his own in the flow of the offense.
