Here were some of the best passers from the event:
Deonte Martinez, 2021, Minot, N.D.
Martinez has moments where he gets a little tunnel-visioned on drives and forces a shot but when he’s at his best, he’s a really good passer. He’s an explosive, athletic lead guard and can make accurate passes in tight areas to guys at the rim, cutters or spot-up shooters. He does a good job looking ahead in transition as well.
Connor Geddes, 2021, Harrisburg, S.D.
Geddes seemed in full control throughout the day, effectively balancing looking for his own offense with feeding his teammates easy shots. He was decisive on drives and did a good job locating where help was and where he could get outlets to for guys to do damage.
Riyen Carlow, 2020, Red Cloud, S.D.
Carlow did a great job facilitating for his team Sunday, opting to move the ball up the floor in transition or drive and dish rather than force his own shot oftentimes. He’s a smart player who has a good understanding of where his teammates are on the floor and where different guys can do their best work.
Nick Wittler, 2020, Sully Buttes, S.D.
Wittler plays a heady game and seems to see the floor really well. He anticipates action well, hitting guys with passes right in time to allow them to either finish or make a shot, or even make another pass before defenses can rotate around.
Triston Jansma, 2021, Harrisburg, S.D.
Jansma is undersized but his floor vision was impressive Sunday. He was efficient with his passes, looking to move the ball up the floor in transition as quickly as possible to put pressure on defenses. He does a great job driving and dumping to his big men for easy shots at the rim and can fit passes into tight areas as he’s comfortable handling the ball and making plays in contested space.
