Orie Walker 2023 Heritage Hall wing
If you search consistent on your browser, you may find a photograph of freshman standout Orie Walker under your “images” tab. Walker got hot from long-range in his first matchup of the game, an exhibition in which the newcomer seamlessly hit 5-of-6 shots from downtown. Walker opened the eyes of many with his impressive performance Sunday, emerging as one of the most exciting rookie prospects in the Oklahoma freshman class. With a roster that returns four starters from the 2018-2019 season, do not be surprised to see Walker get significant minutes in his introductory campaign this season.
Marcell Perry 2022 Southeast wing
Marcell Perry emerged Sunday as one of the most interesting underclassmen in the gym, in heavy part credited to his shooting abilities. Perry had knock-down accuracy and quick-strike mentality on the catch-and-shoot and was bound to hit shots when his defender left him for even a moment. Primarily, his iQ when floating to open spots on the floor and calling for the ball when he saw an opportunity he liked were his most impressive skills as they led to astute shot-selection and highly reliable shot-percentage.
Parker Friedrichsen 2023 Bixby point guard
Parker Friedrichsen spent the day torching opposing players with his quick release — a rather impressive sight from a freshman. Friedrichsen was good on the deep-ball from early in each matchup from the dribble, especially in transition, providing a problem for those who tried to stop him. Further, his shooting talents later allowed for more floor general opportunities and playmaking off-the-dribble, which Friedrichsen has plenty of.
Reid Lovelace 2022 Crossings Christian guard (pictured above)
Perhaps the purest cold-blood shooter in the Oklahoma sophomore class, Reid Lovelace showcased his quick-striking 3-point shooting skills Sunday. Lovelace has elite shooting footwork for his age and can easily transition from motion to a solid shooting foundation before knocking one down before you can get a hand up. Lovelace has continued to rise since his freshman outing at Crossings Christian and has as high a trajectory as any player in his class.
Luke Hasz 2023 Bixby point guard
Luke Hasz was one of the most impressive all-around prospects at the Expo, but his shooting put him over the top. Hasz is strong, quick and has good footwork. Combine those traits with strong ball-handling capabilities, and Hasz was able to successfully create his own shot and knock down the long- and mid-range shots with accuracy and confidence. His shot-selection was also impressive; he refrained from forcing ill-advised takes and put his team in a good spot to win games with his efficiency.
