Kalub Hunt 2020 Newcastle swingman (pictured above)
Kalub Hunt is among the most touted shooters in the Oklahoma senior class, and he took a back-seat to nobody on Sunday afternoon. The 6-foot-4-inch perimeter prospect came out striking each opportunity he was given and was unafraid to take the burden upon himself of taking unprecedented shots while he was on the floor — shots, by the way, he made to appear routine.
Jackson Lawley 2021 Tishomingo point guard
Jackson Lawley had an impressive junior summer and further proved Sunday he belongs on the list of rising athletes to watch in his class. Lawley likes to have a high share of the ball because he likes getting in a rhythm — and when he does, you don’t want to be the guy guarding him. Lawley proved any doubters wrong by shooting the ball well both from long range and, later, taking the ball around the elbows and knocking down tough shots, despite heavy contest from defenders.
Eli Wallace 2021 Bishop Kelley point guard
An emerging high-clip shooting prospect in the Oklahoma junior class, Wallace capped off an already impressive Summer showing by displaying his talents Sunday. Wallace’s talents can be characterized more as poetry, rather than automation; when you walk into a gym and see Eli Wallace on the floor, you know you’re getting a shooter who will take gutsy shots in which his confidence is at its apex. It’s an art to watch.
James Locke 2021 Carl Albert guard
James Locke was on fire Sunday, consistently hitting big-time, contested shots with mere inches of spacing. Locke has a particularly long wingspan for his height — at 6-foot-3-inches, Locke’s release point resembles that of a significantly taller shooter, a claim that can be backed up by the countless taller players he bested from the arch at the Expo. He is generally unafraid to have the ball in his hands in situations that might make less experienced players crumble. After starting his sophomore season, look for Locke’s production to increase throughout his junior season.
Ian Sluice 2021 Metro Christian guard
Ian Sluice has been one of the most interesting upcoming prospects in Oklahoma over the past few months. The Metro Christian junior capped off a spectacular summer with great shooting performances in every matchup he played Sunday. Sluice has a cannon from deep range and was, perhaps, one of the gutsiest shooters at the Expo. The junior combo guard was thrilling to watch for spectators, daring defenders with his sorcery-like skills with the ball in his hands. Sluice’s form is impeccable, and once he gets in rhythm, he is almost unstoppable with the ball in his hands.
