Andrew BerganConference Commentary
Aberdeen Central – Central will have the top frontcourt in the state with Bergan and Burckhard, and if they can get the needed backcourt player Central will have a strong year.
Brandon Valley – The defending state champs have a pair of top players back in Hilton and Terhark plus a couple key junior reserves.
Brookings – Despite having a team that was mostly seniors Brookings struggled to win games. Trent Broksieck returns but will need a lot of help.
Harrisburg – A quality junior class steps into some massive shoes that helped take Harrisburg basketball back to where many feel it should be. Not starting over, but many new faces will be in the line-up.
Huron – With two of the state’s elite players back along with other supporting players from a state tournament team expectations at Huron are massive.
Teegan EversMitchell – The bad news from a tough year is that a lot of young players got a chance to play and get ready for the future. Caden Hinker had a nice start to his career.
Pierre – The Governors lost three of four on average a year ago but they only had a pair of seniors so the team will have experience. Grey Zabel is an all league player and there will be several key pieces back around him.
Watertown – Eight senior seniors played for Watertown a year ago so there will be a lot of change when they take the floor for game one. It will be tough to know what to expect.
Yankton – The Bucks lost three starters but they have the best player in the state Matthew Mors plus a few others with experience. Looking for a second state title in three years the Bucks will have a chance to compete for gold.
