Samarte Holts
Holts has a strong frame that he uses on the defensive end. In all four games, he played he was a wall. No one passed him in a one on one setting. He moves his feet well and defends the pick and roll thanks to his strength. On offense his physicality allows him to barrel into the lane. He forces nothing averaging just over a turnover in four games.
Jean “JD” Dodard
“JD” competes with a devious smile on his face the entire event. At 6-5 his long lean frame allows him to roam around on the defensive end. He takes pride in not letting anyone score on him almost looking happy when two different opponents tried to dunk on him, he blocked both. On the offensive end, he’s a self creator. Jab steps, pull up jumpers, floaters, long range shots, and tough finishes are all deep in his bag.
Miles Goodman
Goodman left defenders spinning in circles. Listed as a power forward yet destined to play on the wing Goodman used pump fakes and jab steps to create space before he dribbles. Once the ball hits the floor, he finds a way to create more of it to get to his smooth jumper. When off the ball he’s running off picks and cuts to get open for catch and shoot opportunities.
Adam Wanjohi
Wanjohi didn’t let his stature stop him from competing against much more physically mature opponents. He supplied solid defensive efforts without giving up much space. Wanjohi got into ball handlers using his long arms to disrupt movement. He was one of the higher IQ freshmen in attendance which says a lot considering how talented the class of 2023 in Texas is showing.
Kaden Shelburne
Shelburne lived up to the hype as a shooter. The jumper was pure every game regardless of who guards him. He’s a spot-up shooter with the ability to take you off the dribble. His game is still growing as he proves he can run the point more effectively.
Justin Bohannon
A talented 6-3 freshman guard with tons of potential. He’s embracing his physicality using it to finish around the rim absorbing contact. He showed off smooth athleticism in transition finishing with an effortless dunk.
Nyk Madison
Madison is an athlete foremost. He’s explosive using every inch of his vertical in an instance to sky for rebounds, blocks, and dunks. He links his impact on the court to his will to play hard and compete. When he gets the chance to unleash the total package on the break, no one could stop him.
Anthony Romanelli
Romanelli was one of the shiftiest guards on the court at all times. He doesn’t do a lot to create space, but it’s pretty and effective. He’s a master at body control as he wiggles into spots in the defense. He’s a pure shooter knocking down multiple threes at a high clip in all of his games.
