The season is quickly approaching and we are excited about the potential of how special of a season this could be for players and teams. The 2020, 2021 and 2022 Classes are shaping up to be solid groups and there are quite a few players that we feel could come into their own before it’s said and done, so with that being said let’s take a glance at some players that we feel could see a boost in their recruitment over the next few months.
Scotland County 2020 Guard Garrett Mcrae: If you have been tuned in over the last few months, then you already know that we have been very impressed with his improvements and what he has a chance to be. He’s dominated a high amount of the matchups he’s had and should be a player that programs in the CIAA and other D2 leagues should be keeping a close eye on.
Pender HS 2022 Guard Jakwon Moore Jakwon Moore 6'5" | SF New Life Christian | 2023 State NC : He played part of last season up at Wilson Prep but finished out at Pender and will look to be a big part of the Pender HS offense. With the departure of Guard Khalil Marshall Khalil Marshall 6'1" | PG Lake Norman Christian | 2022 State NC , Pender will be looking for a player to step in to provide more offense and Moore could very well be that guy. He’s been putting in some major hours over the summer perfecting his craft as well as playing against some good competition with Team United.
East Columbus 2020 Forward CJ Freeman: At this point he doesn’t have much recruitment but don’t be surprised to see things turn for him sooner than later. First and foremost you can’t teach height, and he is a legit 6’7 that can play with his back to the basket offensively and affect plays without fouling on the defensive side of the ball. He’s another player who has been putting in some work on his game and look to be back to 100% after a new injury a few years back.
Grace Christian 2020 Guard Jonah Murr: We got the chance to see some flashes of how good he could be last season, and we expect to see all that and more this year as he goes into his senior year. Murr averaged about 14 PPG last season but had several 20+ and 30+ games, which is something his squad will need this year due to the departure of some seniors that held a part of the scoring load for them.
Fayetteville Christian 2020 Forward Daunte Gardner: He already has seen some schools jump aboard on him and show interest as he put together a very impressive performance at the ENC FAB 40 Camp. We fully expect to see the same from him this year as he will be one of the seniors on a FCS team that had a very good year last year and will be looking to make a deep run into the state playoffs.
