SF Christian Meeks (Homewood Flossmoor – 2022)
Meeks is a 6’5” small forward that is tough as nails and plays with an all-out motor on both ends of the floor. His tenacity for the game translates on both ends of the floor. Let’s first talk about what he does on the glass. He is one of the most elite wing rebounders in the state. He crashes the glass like the ball is his and his alone. Scores a ton off offensive rebound put backs. Bully ball with the rock in his hands going through opponents for scores at the cup. Finishes so well around the hoop. High level wing defender that can defend almost all five positions at the high school level. Hit a mid-range jumper, but his go to is his energy and defense.
SG Gabe Madej (Fenwick – 2022)
At 6’5” this Fenwick wing continues to see his stock go up this fall. Good size for a young wing already. We know he can shoot it which he did well again hitting a variety of pull up jumpers including using a jab step to create space. I came away impressed with how well he handled it with crisp straight line drives for finishes.
PG Brennan White (Lyons – 2022)
White came half way through the event, but still made an impact. The point guard handles it well and dished it several times in the lane for quick dimes in traffic. Capable shooter from three.
PG Brady Heckman (Benet – 2022)
Heckman is a 5’11” point guard that should be in line down the road to be the next standout floor general at Benet. Like many of the others that came before him he can really shoot it from three.
PG Luis Acevedo (Homewood Flossmoor – 2022)
Acevedo is a point guard that shot it well from three hitting an array of pull ups. Decent feel for the game out of the young guard.
PG Jayden Dean (Neuqua Valley – 2022)
Dean put himself on our radar with a strong showing. The 6’0” point guard will fit in nicely with Neuqua’s loaded junior class. Dean is a crisp ball handler that got in and out of traffic exploding through holes with a burst. Was constantly in attack mode throughout the night. Hit a couple deep threes. Like the energy he played with on the defensive end moving laterally.
PG Owen McManaman (Lyons – 2022)
McManaman is a guard that we have seen over the years. He has solid size at 6’1” along with an all-around floor game. Unfortunately he got hurt early in the night with an ankle injury.
PG Bryce Shoto (Plainfield Central – 2023)
Shoto is a prospect that we first saw at this event last year. He is small at only 5’3”, but this kid is so much fun to watch. The freshman is a high IQ guard that makes excellent decisions with the ball in his hands well beyond his age. Has a floater game and shields the ball away from defenders on layups in the lane. Hit several deep threes. Fun playmaking freshman guard to track!
SG Demetrius Moss (Plainfield Central – 2023)
Young Plainfield East 6’2” two guard is a lefty with some projectability. He was at his best winning off the dribble converting with runners. Plus athlete that can play on and off the ball. Definitely has potential to monitor.
