These players might not fill up the stat sheet every night, by they’re capable. Also, I fully expect them to improve on their prior seasons!
Sleepers:
Cali Davis (6’1” / G 2020 / Africentric): I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Africentric always has solid guard play. Cali Davis is the senior leader of this team and a part of a solid backcourt. Davis can shoot it off the dribble with no problems and finds different ways to score. The senior finished strong at all times when I watched him this summer and should be even stronger by winter. Expect to see a boost in production from the Nubian.
Harley Day (6’6” / PF 2020 / North Union): Harley Day is quietly an interesting big in the senior class. A multi sport athlete that brings strong athleticism to the game. Day does a good job in the face up game and scores in the mid range. Has the ability to attack the rim and do damage. Last year was one of North Union’s leading scorers, that should see an improvement in that category this season. Also, a threat in transition, can handle the ball a bit too. An underrated prospect to watch this winter.
Mitch Myers (6’3” / W 2020 / Marion Harding): A strong wing that has an inside-outside game that can defend a big is what Myers brings to the table. The best player on his Marion Harding team, the senior takes care of a lot of the scoring. Around 11 points a game last season expect that number to jump to the 15 range as the multi sport athlete has gotten stronger and continues to shoot it from deep. Myers can work in the post or facing the basket and always finishes tough. The Presidents return a decent amount and any success starts with their senior leader.
Jack Christian (5’11” / G 2021 / Marysville): Since getting to high school Jack has put up a ton of points. A guard that keeps his composure and doesn’t make the game more difficult. Shoots the basketball well and is a big scoring threat for Marysville. At about 14 points a game the Monarch guard is a terror off the dribble, and can be found in the corner. I like the ability of Christian at either guard spot and should be in for an even bigger season.
Derrick James (5’7” / PG 2022 / St. Charles): James is another one of those guards who doesn’t let height limit him and knows how to control the game. St. Charles has a very talented 2022 class and James is a part of that. As a freshman he took care of business and was a secondary contributor for the team in red. A year under his belt the quick guard should score it at a high clip this winter, perhaps double-digits on the regular. James can shoot it and doesn’t back down from completion. An interesting player on a solid team in 2020.
