Rondel Walker tells Prep Hoops his Top 5, as announced earlier in the fall, “Texas, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Kansas State, and Virginia Tech all made it into my final five schools”.
Walker expressed his gratitude toward each and every coach who has recruited him saying, “I love and appreciate every school that has reached out to me over the course of my grassroots and high school journey”. However, he expressed that the final five schools of his choice were the ones that stood out the most.
Walker is very clear and precise about what he is looking for in a college basketball program.
“I am looking for a place where I can be an impact player as a true freshman,” said Walker. “A place that fits my style of play, and a place where I feel comfortable calling home.”
The best way to describe Walker is a guard who is very cerebral and can do-it-all. He prides himself on being able to score with the best and defend against the best.
In his free time, Rondel has taken up fishing. He expressed great love for nature and even says his most recent pet was a chameleon, which he named Turtle.
The choice for his favorite player was an interesting one on a number of levels. Walker picked two players for two very different reasons.
“Lebron James because he is the best player on the planet,” said Walker. “But I feel like I can relate to Damian Lillard’s game because he was one of those slept on kids that made a name for himself late.”
Walker will take one last run at a state title this year with Putnam City West as the leader of a senior-led team hungry for a chance at the Gold Ball.
