Calavan has been the main scoring threat for the Tigers but also compliments his team with other aspects. He averages 23 points per game with 7 boards and 3 assists. While Calavan wants to do whatever it takes to win he does know what his strengths are and how to play to them.
“I think my strength is scoring, I feel like I can score in anyway needed but shooting the ball is my biggest strength,” said Calavan.
While Calavan has been the leading scoring for the tigers he has still been working to improve his game to be a more well-rounded player. He has been working on his ball handling and first step in order to get past his defenders more effectively. Once he gets past his defender he also wants to have the vision to be able to know whether to pull up or attack the basket.
Calavan comes from a historic program in Fort Gibson that has fallen off their high standards these past few years following losing a head coach and a bunch of talent that reached the state finals. He wants to be able to put the Tigers back into a situation of success. His number one goal is to be able to extend his team’s season into March.
Calavan’s recruitment picked up this summer and he now holds four offers from: Colby College, Bethel College, Kansas Wesleyan University and the University of Central Oklahoma. He has been on a visit to Kansas Wesleyan and plans to visit UCO in the near future. Conner’s older brother Carson is currently on the roster of the UCO Bronchos. Conner has found the recruiting process a fun one and looks forward to how it goes during his senior year. After college, Calavan has dreams of obtaining a career as a FBI agent. He is taking this into consideration while looking at potential schools to attend.
