Some of the top high school teams from the Greater Houston region are invited to play in this 24 team event. Here is my standouts from Day 2 of the event.
Chris Johnson 6’3 G • 2023 • Fort Bend Elkins HS
Was dropping dimes all over the court and super active on the defensive side as well. He also shot the ball really well especially the corner three point shoot where he went 6/6 on the day. He didn’t look like a freshman at all on the floor. He should have a good impact on the varsity level.
Jacolbi Harris 5’10 PG • 2021 • Fort Bend Elkins HS PHTX75
Jacolbi is ranked 67th in the State of Texas for his class. He is a tenacious on ball defender and was a menace on the court. He was all over his opponent and came away with a handful of steals. He also is crafty with the ball in his hands and was able to break down the first layer of the zone defense in the half-court set to get quality paint touches.
Shane Bell 6’1 G • 2021 • Fort Bend Elkins HS
Was scoring the ball in high volume on the court. He knocked it down from deep, the mid-range, and finished at the bucket. Moves well without the ball in his hands. Solid catch and shoot prospect both contested and uncontested.
Jemikah Chevis 6’4 F • • St Pius X HS
Is rim running and getting the easy buckets. He is all over the offensive glass as well. High motor prospect who is super active the entire game. He is like an energizer bunny that never stops moving. This was my second time seeing this prospect and his play is very consistent.
Jason Johnson 6’0 PG • 2021 • St Pius X HS
Crafty ball handler with good ball speed. Really solid on-ball defender. He was able to get in the paint no matter who was guarding him. His shot wasn’t falling but he got his teammates involved in the game.
Jabari Miller 6’6 F • 2020 • Dickinson HS
Played above the rim whenever he got the chance to. He was also all over the glass defensively. Caught a couple of alleys and also dunked on a defender twice in one game. Long and athletic forward that has decent lateral movement. Has good form on his jumper with a high release point and can knock down some trey balls. Plays more of the 4/5 for his school team, could be use as a combo forward on the D3/NAIA level.
Tre’Von Banks 6’5 WG • 2020 • Houston Sharpstown HS
Is uber an bouncy wing prospect. Has really strong handle on the ball and is a speedster with the ball in his hands. When he’s going downhill lookout because he’s looking to put you in the rim. Has solid build with good strength and can guard the 1-3 position on the floor. Would be a solid JuCo prospect.
Joshua Farmer 6’8 SF • 2021 • Houston Sharpstown HS PHTX75
Is currently ranked 18th in the State of Texas for his class. Josh was out there stroking it from deep and had a fistful of dunks as well. The long athletic wing was showcasing why he’s considered to be a top prospect in his class. He scored on all three levels on the floor. Played solid on the defensive end as he was getting steals, altering shots, and swatting them away. He runs the floor like a deer and has a smooth handle on the ball.
Nate Lacewell 6’8 SF • 2020 • Legacy School of Sports Science PHTX150 (ass seen in the picture)
Nate is ranked 93rd in the State of Texas for his class and showed his ability to score at all three levels. He also showed that he will put you in the rim as he did an opponent who was trying to contest him. Smooth game with a good feel for the game. Moved well without the ball in his hands. Guarded the 2-4 position very well on the court also. He is a D1 Mid-Low Major prospect that could be a D2 stud also. Coaches get him on your radar today.
