The 6’4″ Thomas has put in a lot of work in the offseason to improve his overall game, but one part that did not need a lot of improvement was his athleticism and ability to make explosive plays at the basket. He is quite capable of making highlight reel plays with swooping dunks and slashing drives to the basket.
“When I dunk, it really gets everyone into the game,” he said. “It gets my teammates hyped up and even more focused on the game.”
Thomas has attracted collegiate interest from St. Louis area schools such as Lindenwood, Maryville and Missouri Baptist. He has a big upside with his athleticism and ability to attack the basket and score at the rim. He is also an excellent rebounder with the ability to be a lock-down defender on the wing. His offensive game has continued to improve over the course of the summer.
“I’ve really improved on my dribbling and shooting during the summer,” he said. “I’m learning to be more physical and how to use my body. I use my speed very well and I can use my change of pace.”
As a junior, Thomas averaged nearly 10 points, six rebounds and two steals while shooting 46 percent from the field and 79 percent from the free throw line. He was able to showcase his talent with some big performances during the 2019 season.
Thomas had 21 points, nine rebounds and four assists against Lafayette on December 7. He also had 20 points, 10 assists and four steals against Kansas City Central at the Rolla Tournament and 14 points and 15 rebounds in a victory against Parkway North. Summit finished with a 15-11 record last season and the Falcons figure to have another strong season.
“I’m very excited to put Rockwood Summit on the map,” he said. “We have some nice talent on our team that I think can play at the next level after high school.”
