Wichita City League
Bishop Carroll (18-7, 12-4)< Wichita East (13-8, 12-4), Wichita Heights (16-6, 12-4), Kapaun Mt Carmel (8-13,6-10), Wichita North (0-22, 0-16), Wichita Northwest (7-15, 5-11), Wichita South (9-12,8-8), Wichita Southeast (21-4, 14-2), Wichita West (4-17, 3-13)
Grant Johnson, 6’1, G, 2021, Kapaun Mt Carmel
Johnson impressed this summer on the Wichita Padres, showing his defensive presence on the ball and his knack for coming away with steals. He has a good eye for plays and can find his rhythm and connect from almost anywhere on the floor. He can outsmart opponents when he takes the ball inside or stop and shoot before they get a chance to contest his shot.
Jackie Johnson, 5’10, PG, 2021, Southeast
An all-around problem for opponents when he has the ball in his hands, Johnson is a walking bucket who can connect from anywhere on the floor. He is quick on his feet and looks to get inside and score. He can connect from distance but prefers to break down defenses and score over opponents near the basket. An elite athlete with a solid upside and a lot of potential.
Rone Smith, 5’11, G, 2021, Southeast
A flexible guard who is starting to make a name for himself. He is an athletic two-way player who has a nice first step and the length to get off a floater and contest shots. Smith has a soft touch to his shot and a nice rhythm to his game that shows up in more ways than one. He works as hard on defense as he does on offense and the extra effort goes a distance.
Fontaine Williams Jr., 6’1, G, 2022, East
An impressive young prospect who showed a terrific upside during the summer. Williams has great handles and shows terrific athleticism and drive. He can connect from a distance and also can get inside and make plays around the basket. He had several impressive moments playing for Mokan Elite 2022, both as a defender, shot blocker and all-around playmaker.
