Our series will take a look at the best teams in the state for each class with our rankings. Starting at #50 and going to #1, we will look at each class ranking across all classes starting now with #32.
1A #32: West Washington
Last year, West Washington started to get their groove back a little bit. They had lost a ton of talent two years before and were building it back up. They ended the season going 3-2 with wins over Henryville, Shawe Memorial, and Crothersville. Now, they bring back a ton of upperclassmen and are setup for a strong run with a schedule that is a bit backloaded. Get some momentum and rely on roster built of experienced guys and multiple players over 6’5. Might be selling low on their upside.
2A #32: Adams Central
Adams Central is coming off their first winning season in a few years going 14-11. Now they are looking to make it back-to-back years. Their roster does have some turnover but they do get some luck here with their schedule. It isn’t terribly difficult with only Blackhawk, Leo, Norwell, and Churubusco being some of the more difficult games. They lost some size but expect freshman Trent Jesinowski to step into that post player role for them. They also return Nick Dague, Lucas Van De Weg, and Chase Murray from last year’s group.
3A #32: Scottsburg
Last year was a little bit of a resurgence from Scottsburg. They hadn’t won 15 games since 2014-15 and had really struggled in between. Now, led by sophomore Hayden Cutter, Scottsburg is back. Nic Sebastiao and Cutter will be a dynamic duo this year in 3A and this could be the breakout year. #32 might be low. Their schedule lines up to give them tests trhoughout but look for the Bedford North Lawrence tournament to be the barometer. Get a win or two from Bloomington North, New Palestine, or Fishers and they should be in business. They might be the second best team in that Sectional.
4A #32: New Palestine
The New Palestine group will be one of the more underrated and difficult teams to play this year. Not many will expect much but this team is loaded and deep. Led by senior Max Gizzi, they have a ton of guys including some football players that should add value. Kyle King and Mexen Hook gives them a tough interior presence along with some wing scoring. Eric Roudebuch, Jayden Moore, and potential breakout Dawson Eastes should all have their games where they excel. They have size, scoring, and toughness to take on the tough 4A programs in the Sectional and schedule.
