The Ohio Capital Conference is the most talented conference in the state, with five divisions and a ton of teams. These conferences offer a ton of players for each level of college. You can look amongst Division l, ll and lll right now and find players from the OCC all over.
After previewing each division, we can take a look at the preseason OCC team as a whole. Players from different divisions amongst the league on one squad is interesting.
Preseason All-OCC:
Jalen Sullinger (2021) | 5-9 PG | Thomas Worthington
The talented Sullinger is a bucket getter for the Cardinals and is going to be that once again this winter. Can let it fly from dee at any given time, or run an offense to perfection. Creating space is what the junior does and he does it effectively. Defenders can’t stay with the crafty ball handler, he’s that good. The last name Sullinger runs deep in the Columbus area, Jalen is building a legacy to add on to it.
Keaton Turner (2020) | 6-0 G | Dublin Coffman
Now the guy at Dublin Coffman, Keaton is set to go off this season for the Rocks. The scoring minded guard can get to the hoop or shoot it off the dribble. Mid-range or from the outside it doesn’t matter, Turner is going to knock it down. Shifty ball handler that keeps defenders off balance is able to get a ton of uncontested shots up. Finishes around the hoop acrobatically. If everything goes right the senior could have a huge season.
Jack Sawyer (2021) | 6-5 PF | Pickerington North
The best athlete in the state of Ohio, no matter the class is big time on the hardwood. Sawyer is set to lead a good Panthers team that is good this season, with more experience than last year. A physical presence that gets what he wants inside and can stretch the floor out a bit with his jump hook and turnaround. The junior is going to put up big time numbers this season, sky is the limit for him and Pickerington North.
Bilal Sow (2020) | 6-5 PF | Canal Winchester
One of the leagues better returning scorers, Sow remains underrated in the 2020 class for the area. Sow is a work grouse inside that is physical and can body up defenders. Will do his scoring from all three levels, a confident shooter from deep as well. The quicker Sow gets with his post scoring, the higher his ceiling goes. A player that plays bigger than his listed height, will flat out hoop this winter.
Tyrese Hughey (2021) | 6-7 PF | Thomas Worthington
Best basketball prospect for the 2021 class early on is Tyrese Hughey. At a new school now and set to make a bigger impact for the Cardinals. Hughey is big time on both ends of the floor and is capable of stretching it too, not his strong suit however. The pick and roll could be unstoppable with the ball handlers that Thomas Worthington has, where the junior will get plenty of opportunity. Big time double-double threat this season.
