Continue ReadingWith new transfers, players moving up from middle school and junior varsity levels and so on, we will see quite a few new players on the floor at different times this season. Which leads us to highlight some of the potential dynamic duos that we could possibly see this season, so let’s jump right in and take a look!
EE Smith 2021 Guard Demetrius Polk & 2020 Forward Jaylen Siermons: We won’t get to see this duo for a few months as Siermons in nursing an injury but we fully expect them to be a dangerous duo when the opportunity arrive. Siermons is a double/double type of player, he uses his strength and athleticism to finish plays inside as well as rebound, while Polk is a guard that can score it a high level and seems to have a new confidence as well physical maturity.
Washington HS 2020 Guard Rashod Smith & 2021 Guard Omarion Blount: After seeing these two players perform at a very high level during the recent ENC FAB40 Camp, you have to be excited about what they could possibly be this season. Smith is a player that can score and facilitate, he’s had quite a few 20 point/10 Assist games in his high school career and we don’t expect to see a change in that. Blount is a scoring machine, he is automatic from three point range and does a nice job of reading defenders so he can attack in the most effective way.
Living Water Christian 2020 Guard Malachi Borders & 2020 Wing Colin Radcliffe: This duo will be another group that we will be seeing for the very first time this year as they have both transferred in. Borders is a PG that can shoot it from deep but does a great job of getting other involved, he has a nice IQ for the game and doesn’t allow himself to get forced into anything. Radcliffe put up some scoring numbers at Richlands HS as well as over the summer and will look to do some of the same this year. He’s picked up some interest from D3 programs so far and will look to raise his stock with a productive season at LWC.
First Flight HS 2020 Guard Dylan Blake & 2020 Guard Jordan High: They both bring the ability to knock down the three point shot at a high level but have other attributes that help them to be successful. Blake has grown as a player maker and attacking the basket while High has shown the ability to be a double digit rebounder, mixing it up inside with opposing bigs. Don’t be surprised to see both of these young men putting up double/doubles at some point during the season, Blake has already picked up some D1 & D2 offers while High is still looking to boost his recruitment.
Laney HS 2021 Guard Makoa Surigao & 2020 Forward Demarcus Mclaurin: This will be their first high school season playing together but we fully expect them to hit the ground running. Both players have a nice IQ for the game with Surigao being a PG that is a gifted passer but also having the ability to knock down shots from deep. Mclaurin is a player that can post big time rebound numbers but also has shown his ability to score the ball in various ways, either inside the post or stepping out and knocking down shots.
