The best player in 2A, Dejean led the Eagles in scoring, rebounding, assists and blocks last season and will be asked to do much more for a group that doesn’t return anyone who scored more than 13 points last season. An explosive athlete, he plays above the rim and should have a massive season for OABCIG.
First Team
2021 Cooper DeJean, OABCIG (23.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.7 steals, 50.9 FG%)
DeJean is the league’s leading returnee in scoring, rebounds and assists. He’s an explosive athlete who is going to be asked to do even more this season for an OABCIG team that lost just about everything to graduation.
2020 Jonah DeRoos, Siouxland Christian (17.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.5 steals)
The 5-11 guard averaged 20.5 points in the Eagles’ eight wins last season. He led the team in steals and finished second in assists.
2020 Christian Heilbuth, Siouxland Christian (15.5 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.3 steals, 7.1 blocks)
Heilbuth’s 156 blocks last season were more than all but five TEAMS around the state. A dominant two-way threat, the 6-6 big man will look to help Siouxland Christian become more competitive on a nightly basis this season.
2021 Garrett Trapp, River Valley (15.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.6 steals)
Trapp led the Wolverines in scoring, assists and steals last season, and his 44 made 3-pointers are tops among league returnees.
2020 Ben Thelander, Lawton-Bronson (15.0 points, 9.9 rebounds, 1.7 steals, 1.4 blocks, 53.4 FG%)
Just shy of averaging a double-double, the 6-6 big man was dominant on both ends of the floor for the Eagles. An efficient big man who does most of his damage around the rim, he shot 53.4% from the floor and pulled down over twice as many rebounds as his closest teammate.
