In this article PH takes a look at some of them. For the purpose of this article underclassmen are defined as c/o 2022 and younger.
Zachary Davidson 6’8 SF Mater Dei Catholic 2023 – His older brother gets a ton of attention, however Davidson is also a solid prospect. The wing showed off his shooting touch as well as his overall game. It’s hard to believe that he’s only going to be a freshmen. Posses an IQ of a much older player. Several times he used the threat of his shooting ability to show the ball, lift the defender and drive by. He also showed a clever ability to make plays for both he and his teammates. Super skilled. Davidson will be an impact player instantly.
Isaiah Brewington (featured image) 6’5 PF Campbell Hall 2023 – Every coach I spoke to raved about Brewington. His physicality, intensity and willingness to rebound were evident. He’s still raw, however he has a terrific upside. For one he has room to grow, and develop. Secondly he has tons of moves to add to his post repertoire. Right now he is primarily left shoulder jump hook. When he starts adding a counter he’s going to be a real problem. I envision him as a throwback 4. Brewington is the type of big body banger rarely seen in today’s game, however very few players were willing to guard him.
Kristian Jamerson 6’4 SG Fairmont Prep 2022 – Jamerson was one of the most explosive players at the Expo. Like a lot of the young players his game is still raw and developing. However raw, Jamerson still put on a show. He’s a position-less player that does a little bit of everything. He was at his best when playing downhill. Nice off the bounce game. While he didn’t create for others, he was able to get any shot he wanted. Explosive finisher poised for a breakout season.
Ben Shtolzberg 6’3 SG Notre Dame 2022 – Shtolzberg played well. He moved without the ball and showed the ability to score in other ways besides catch and shoots. Has an extremely high IQ. Shtolzberg understands that he is a shooting threat, so he used pump fakes and hesitations to keep defenders off balance. Good size to play in the backcourt, he also did a good job of defending both the 1 and 2.
Blake Brewer 6’3 SG Mater Dei 2022 – Brewer played extremely well. The 6’3 wing showed great athleticism and an ability to get to the cup. My question about him coming in was his ability to guard. He showed decent quickness and active hands during the Expo. Good looking prospect with an extremely high ceiling.
