I’ll say it again, Mid-Ohio has an abundance of players that can really score it. These players fit right in.
Scorers:
TJ Pugh (6’5” / W 2021 / Shelby): Pugh is another one of those players in a North Central Ohio conference, so he is included. The junior is simply the best player on the court often. Pugh finished shes around the rim at a high rate and has become a crafty ball handler. Jumper is improving, which really opens up his game. TJ could put up some crazy numbers for Shelby this season.
Keaton Turner (6’0” / PG 2020 / Dublin Coffman): Keaton Turner is one to watch this winter as he’s in a unique position. Stuck behind Dominiq Penn the last couple years it is finally his time. Turner showed last year what he’s capable of by being a boost whenever on the court. Turner is a quick guard who can get in the lane and finish, or shoot it from the outside. Dublin Coffman lost a ton, probably the most in Central Ohio. Turner could benefit more than anyone as he will step into a role that will allow him to be a major scoring factor.
Riley Gibson (6’0” / PG 2021 / Circleville): The junior from Circleville is a guard the area needs to become more familiar with. The high school itself you may not hear a ton, but they have a standout point guard. Gibson hovered around 18 PPG last year and was dynamite. The junior isn’t the biggest, but he plays the game how it should be played. Solid basketball IQ, knows what to do with the ball in his hands. As his teams primary scoring threat, I bet we see an even bigger outing from him this season.
Jared Frey (6’4” / WG 2022 / St. Charles): Already a Division l target, many have recognized the capability of how good Frey can be. Jared is a matchup problem for guards at 6-foo-4, so he can bully upon them at times. The sophomore showed his scoring talent last year but should be even better this year. The addition of a big man that is a threat should open up things a lot more for the sharpshooter. Scorching shooting ability is big for the guard as he can bury teams at any time. Except to see the St. Charles hooper fill it up this year.
Trey Woodyard (6’5” / WG 2021 / London): Woodyard plays on a London team that has won a lot of games. The junior can score it from all over and really fill it up. Improved strength has benefited his game around the basket and he can drop a floater in the lane. I could see Trey going from mid-teens in scoring last year to low to mid-twenties, he’s just that good.
