PG Trey Pettigrew (Fenwick – 2022)
Pettigrew is trending as one of the top lead guards in the sophomore class in Illinois. He scored effectively from all three levels. Opened up with a shot fake and pull up mid-range jumper. Followed that up with several threes. Pettigrew got to the rim for athletic scores in the paint. Works extremely well around ball screens as a passer and shooter. Tough on ball defender that puts pressure on opposing lead guards.
PG Jamal Keyes (St. Patrick – 2022)
Keyes is an athletic lead guard that has quick and shifty handles. Quality passer that made good decisions with the ball. Streaky shooter.
PF Nigel Hylton (Lake Forest Academy – 2022)
Hylton broke out at Pangos. This is a prospect we had heard about, but it was our first time seeing him in person. The 6’8” mobile four man was electric getting on the offensive glass for second chance opportunities. He is a bouncy power forward that rebounds at a high level. Quick around the hoop and snatched rebounds at a high rate. Long and rangy frame that should fill out in time. Offensively he finished dump off passes, threw down a nasty alley-oop, and displayed touch around the hoop. Hylton even hit a corner three late in the day. Then on Sunday he went off shooting it drilling an array of threes in every game we saw with a feathery touch from the outside. Covers ground defensively with his mobility and length. This Canadian prospect will debut very high in our next update of the 2022 class.
PG Mysean Vaughn (Simeon – 2022)
Vaughn was one of the most vocal players at the event. He was always talking! High energy left handed point guard that plays with a flair for the game. Vaughn threw several on the money passes in traffic. Bullet passes for layups. Uses his speed to get out in transition and likes to shoot deep pull up threes. Defensively he gets after it with his long arms and quickness.
PF Marcellius Cohen (De La Salle – 2022)
Cohen is a really intriguing left handed 6’9” post. He has good strength and runs the floor very well. Plus athlete that has bounce around the hoop. At times he drifted too much to the perimeter, but when he plays above the rim on the inside he is a very intriguing player. Got on the glass for put backs and finished alley-oops.
SG Malaun Grayer (Kenwood – 2022)
This 6’3” two guard has solid projectability on the wing. Gets out in transition and finished well around the hoop.
PF Emondrek Erkins (Bloom – 2022)
A lot to like with his 6’7” power forward! He has tremendous length and the lefty has excellent mobility. Has the ability to take a defensive rebound and start the break on his own. High level rebounder especially on the offensive glass for put backs. Can face up a little and put it on the deck. Defensively he protects the rim and can defend in ball screens. A little raw at times, but so many things to like with this young post.
PG Jaylen Drane (Simeon – 2022)
Drane had all the tricks in his bag on Sunday. His ball handling has made strides since we last saw him in July. Crisp change of direction and has the ball on a string. The sophomore at times can over dribble a bit, but he is so effective off the bounce scoring. Put combination moves together to win off the bounce throughout the day getting to the rim at a high rate. In the top 30 game he won co-MVP honors for his play. Lived in the lane where he either finished or made sound decisions as a passer. I think that was the area we came away most impressed with was his improved decision making as a distributor. Also drilled an array of key threes including several pull ups.
SF Mick Harrell (Brother Rice – 2022)
This 2022 wing has a nice frame and good length. Projectable kid that has athleticism that he brings to the table.
PF Sulaiman Agiste (Michelle Clark – 2022)
Agiste has emerged this spring as one of the more intriguing big men in the class. At 6’8” the big man has a long and rangy frame. He rebounds well in traffic and gets second chance points on the offensive boards. Finished a couple dump off passes and runs the floor pretty good in transition. Like his potential a lot as a rim protector!
PG Darius Robinson (Rich South – 2022)
Robinson stands at 5’10” with an exciting game. Burst with the ball to the cup and hit a deep pull up three.
PG Alex Gutierrez (DePaul Prep – 2022)
Point guard from Catholic League power that was productive. Threw a lot of assists and has a feel for the game.
PG Jayden Dean (Neuqua Valley – 2022)
Saw Dean on Friday and then again at Pangos. Definitely put himself on the map with his play over the three days. The 6’0” guard brings quickness to the table off the dribble getting in the lane for runners and floaters.
SF Gabe Madej (Fenwick – 2022)
This 6’5” Fenwick wing is another player that we saw all three days over the weekend. He is a strong bodied wing that brings a ton of toughness and productivity to the table. Madej finished well around the hoop and threw several crisp dishes for assists. Versatile player that does a little bit of everything.
SG James Qualley (Stevenson – 2022)
Qualley was an absolute sniper shooting the rock! Did it in both the all-star game and morning game on Sunday. Crisp release with consistent accuracy. He has clean mechanics and lets it fly off the catch like he knows it is going in.
PG Trevon Thomas (DePaul Prep – 2022)
This 5’10” point guard made the top 60 game where he showed a quality offensive game hitting scoop shots and a three.
PG RJ Walker (Decatur Eisenhower – 2022)
Little confused here as I thought Walker was a 2021 prospect, but he was at the camp and listed as a 2022. The point guard can stretch the floor with his shooting, is a quality passer in the pick/roll, and had a sweet euro step finish with his off hand.
C Lidell Miller (Morgan Park – 2022)
Miller looks more like an offensive tackle than basketball player, but this 6’6” center went for 10 points and 11 rebounds in the top 60 game. Wide bodied five man that has strong hands catching passes in traffic and moves well for his size. Physical rebounder.
