F Xavier Amos (Whitney Young – 2022)
Amos was one of the more physically impressive prospects we saw over the weekend. The 6’7” power forward has tremendous strength and athleticism. The Dolphins sophomore was active on the glass for second chance opportunities using his quickness to get put backs. Mid-range shot is an area he showed well offensively. Amos can put the ball on the deck some especially from the high post. Potential as a three point shooter. Not consistent from there yet, but can get there. Defensively he has the tools to be a monster on that end of the floor if he locks in!
SG Byron Hobbs Jr (Lindblom – 2022)
This 6’4” two guard has a long and rangy build with broad shoulders. Good projectability long term. Plays with a lot of energy. Runs the floor hard and cut hard to the hoop for a score on an out of bounds play.
PF Lance Rodgers (Simeon – 2022)
Rodgers is a 6’6” power forward that has broad shoulders and long arms. Like his projectability as he should be able to grow even more over the next few years of high school. He was excellent on the glass high pointing rebounds in traffic and getting put backs. Strong outlet passer. Defensively he is a shot blocking presence being able to come out of nowhere for swats. Could be the next impact post player for Simeon as he played excellent on both days.
PG Miles Casey (St. Ignatius – 2022)
Casey is a high IQ point guard that will remind Catholic League fans of former St. Ignatius standout Riley Doody. Lefty floor general that runs the team and gets others involved. His passing is his biggest strength as a player. Pushes in transition and sees the floor. Plays with a motor and is a leader on the floor.
PG Darrius Perryman (Michelle Clark – 2022)
The 5’8” lead guard is a thick bodied scoring guard. Hit a three from the wing showing solid form on his shot.
PG Jiovanny Garcia (West Leyden – 2022)
Garcia is a tiny point guard that has a crafty game. He scored in transition using his scrappy defense to create offensive opportunities at the other end. Quality shooter that hit pull ups and got more comfortable shooting it as the camp went along.
SG JayQuan Adams (Simeon – 2022)
The 6’4” shooting guard has size for position along with big time bounce. He put down a few huge dunks and was acrobatic finishing around the hoop. Looked to be a decent shooter as well knocking down several triples in the games we saw. Played well in the top 60 game.
SG Andrew Stokes (Montini – 2022)
Stokes is a two guard that has a strong body and loves to finish in the paint. Had a sweet spin move in the lane and got loose in transition.
SF Kanye Smith (Whitney Young – 2022)
Smith currently sets inside the top 10 in the 2022 rankings. I think what you have to like about him the most is what he can be down the road. At 6’5” he has tremendous length and broad shoulders to add strength moving forward. Long and rangy build. Explosive handles when attacking off the dribble. Super bouncy kid that explodes at the rim. Was a bit wild at times, but when he sticks to the basics he is really good.
PG Avyion Morris (Simeon – 2022)
Tiny Simeon point guard that is shifty with the ball in his hands. Crisp passer that made solid decisions.
PF Danny Wolf (Lake Forest Academy – 2022)
Wolf was absolutely sensational at Pangos! The 6’7” four man was extremely active on both ends of the floor. Offensively he can stretch the floor shooting it, put it on the deck, and score at the cup. Several times he took the ball off the glass and pushed it the other way for acrobatic layups. Defensively he was effective as a rim protector. High motor kid that was super productive.
PF Dylan Arnett (DePaul Prep – 2022)
This 6’8” four man has great size and strength while maintaining mobility. He isn’t the most athletic player, but he rebounds well in his area. Moves his feet and is a solid shot blocker on defense. Shows solid form on his three point shot.
SG Shaedon Simpson (Lake Forest Academy – 2022)
Simpson put himself on the map with his play over the weekend. The two guard has projectability and plays with a motor. Was extremely active all event long. Like the athleticism he brings to the table on both ends for the floor. Got on the offensive glass for second chance opportunities.
PF Robbie Avila (Oak Forest – 2022)
Avila is among the best post prospects in the sophomore class in Illinois. He showed why at Pangos. At 6’8” the post is a plus shooter from mid-range and three being able to stretch the floor well for a big man. He is smooth getting up and down the court in transition. Overall has a high skill level and finishes well around the cup with efficiency.
PG Damari Wheeler- Thomas (Larkin – 2022)
This point guard did a nice job pushing the pace in the open floor and drilled pull up jump shots from beyond the arc.
