Austyn Shipps (2020 Cleveland)
Shipps actually started last year at Cleveland but was a bit lost in the shuffle as most of the attention was on the team’s seniors such as Joey Rodrick, Johnny Carr, and Jacob Bolger. He eschewed AAU basketball to play with the team this summer and has emerged as the team leader. The 6-foot-1 senior has also bulked up and was solid all-around in open gym, getting to the basket and finishing and hitting some open jumpers.
Chris Zakariya (2020 Cleveland)
Zakariya comes over from West Linn and will likely be a bigger piece of the puzzle for Cleveland than he would have been for the Lions. He’s well-built at 5-foot-11 and at open gym, showed the ability to penetrate and score as well as shoot from the perimeter. He was also very active on the defensive end.
Joey Fletcher (2021 Madison)
Fletcher is a transfer from Madison. He was largely a role guy for the Senators but Cleveland head coach Dondrale Campbell believes he’ll have more of an impact for him. He appeared a little raw at open gym but at 6-foot-2, he’s got decent size and athleticm that will give the smaller Warriors help down low on both ends.
Andre Best (2020 Oregon City)
Best is a returning First Team All-TRL honoree and he could very well be a candidate for Player of the Year honors as a senior. If open gym was any indication, the 5-foot-11 senior has continued to improve on his outside shot and it looks as if he’s added some mid-range pull-up to his game. As always, he was good with his decision making and was a “dog” on the defensive end.
TJ Warren (2020 Oregon City)
If there’s a player for the Pioneers who appears as if he will really emerge as a senior, it’s Warren. The 6-foot-5 post will most likely start in the middle and in open gym, he was very assertive and confident in posting up strong down in the paint and finishing plays near the rim. He ran the floor well and held his ground on the boards and on defense.
Jake Gettel (2020 Oregon City)
Gettel was honorable mention all-league last season and he should be solid for Oregon City. The 6-foot-1 senior lefty looked capable of knocking down open jumpers, threw some nice entry passes into the post, and showed good effort on the defensive end.
