The Ben L. Smith High School Golden Eagles return all five starters in 2019-20 with a chance to be very good. Here's a look at notes from their open gym.

The Golden Eagles have an experienced backcourt led by 5-foot-10 senior point guard Khalid Hinds. Hinds is a terror on the defensive end and showed his stuff as a top-notch defender throughout. He's due to set the tone for this team and right behind him are wings 2021 Juwelz Hargrove and 2020 high-flying wing Silas Mason. Hargrove and Mason are two prospects due to make quite the impact with their ability to get to the rim and finish strong. Mason's jump shot is still developing and as it does, it should separate this team from the pack. Hargrove has a nice frame and length that allows him to rebound the ball and get up the floor. The addition of 2021 Isaiah Moore should help elevate this squad as well. Moore can get to the rim off the bounce and can play above the rim as well. In the freshman ranks, Kobe George and Markquan Gilbert should contribute as well, giving this squad some much-needed depth.
