Continue ReadingWe have roughly 110 ranked players in the class of 2020 that we have gotten to watch and assess prior to this summer. But with a big summer where we made sure to get out to as many events as we could as well as finishing off the year we are adding to that list. We are a few more weeks away from the season and will be providing one more rankings update within that time. There are plenty of players that stood out and are being added to the list so without further ado, here are some point guards that have made a case.
Kai Bertram– Littleton
Bertram is a guard that will have no choice but to be at a bottom of the list with how Littleton fared last season but one thing that is undeniable is his talent. He is a crafty guard with confidence that controls the offense and can score in various ways. He can shoot the ball if given room, can create off of the dribble and gets to the rim. Bertram started becoming a more consistent scorer for Littleton and with that put him in a position I feel he can benefit from this upcoming season that’ll surely have his rank rise.
Joe Cartelli – Frederick
This Frederick team just has to start winning, they have to. They have a dangerous group in the backcourt who all stood out at the few events that there has been this summer and one that really stood out during the season was Cartelli. He put up 15.7 points a game and has the ability to change some things up heading into this season. Playing him as the lead guard as well as a bit off-ball will surely put his team in a better situation. He is at the bottom of the list, but he is now there.
Diego Dominguez – Northfield
Scoring guard that has the ability to take over. Eight points a game last season and when he gets into a groove it is difficult to slow him down. He has a good change of pace game and reads defenses. This season I would like for him to be more of a true point guard that gets others involved. Northfield should have a team where they can get multiple guys going at once and with him playing a bit off the ball as well they should be able to go. He will jump onto our rankings for the upcoming season with anticipation of changes.
Evan Laraby – Middle Park
Laraby is one of the guards that definitely stood out this summer as he is a two-way guard that gets after it on both ends of the court. He has great vision and played with pace at one of our showcases, he made sure to get others involved as he set his teammates up for scores and also is a true point that understands where to be on the court. He finishes in the paint. I am excited to follow Laraby this season and he is a guard that will make the list albeit at the bottom.
Korey Hess – Arapahoe
The only thing holding Hess back has been team success because he is most definitely a guard that we dropped the ball on. Vision, ball handling, playmaking and also the ability to get to the rim and score surely shows that he is one of the toughest guards in the state to guard. If Arapahoe is able to get a few more wins in a very tough conference there are a few more players to jump on this hype train. He has it all and it is finally coming together where others are noticing it. He will hop onto our list near the bottom but I personally feel as if he will easily be one of the guards that catapults midseason for sure.
