Those task are made much easier with the help of solid big men. In this article PH takes a look at some of the top bigs in the Nevada C/O 2021 rankings.
Anthony Swift 6’6 SF Desert Pines – Perhaps Swift’s future depends on what position he eventually ends up at. He has the build of a small forward, however his length, elite athletic ability and rim protection make it easy to see him translating to a 4 or 5 especially at the prep level. High level rebounder that gives his team second chance points off offensive rebounds.
Aime Ciza 6’8 PF Desert Valley Prep – The lefty is a unique prospect. He has the frame of an old school power forward, however he loves to step out and stretch the floor. Ciza will be playing at the newly formed Desert Valley Prep this season, adding much needed depth to the class of 2021 bigs. He currently holds an offer from Southern Utah
Jacob Howard 6’5 PF Durango – Howard is transferring in from Arkansas. High IQ, fundamentally sound big that does his work early and understands the importance of blocking out to keep more athletic players off the glass. On offense he’s going to provide inside scoring from put backs and catch and finishes.
Brandon Ruiz 6’5 C Centennial – Ruiz plays with an intensity and passion that Centennial is going to need. He is not the most polished player, however he’s an active body, willing to compete for rebounds on both ends. Runs the floor well and has above average hands. Because of the way the Bulldogs are built, Ruiz’s production will be essential to their success.
Deshon Palmer 6’3 PF Shadow Ridge – Palmer makes this list as an undersized player. Once you watch him play, you’ll instantly see why he’s able to be productive. Good athlete that gets off the floor in a hurry. Palmer has a great 2nd jump allowing for him to compete for rebounds against larger players.
Rameses Nabong 6’5 C Foothill – The best trait that Nabong has is his toughness. Willing defender that battles for inside post position. What he lacks in athleticism, Nabong makes up for with fundamentals, toughness and strength. Has a developing post game that includes soft hands and a nice low post jump hook.
Riley deWitt 6’6 PF Bonanza – deWitt is a raw big with decent athleticism and hands. Best skill right now is his activity both around the rim and while fighting for defensive rebounds. Fluid athlete with the ability to run the floor well.
