1. M’Wani Wilkinson 6’6 SF Bishop Gorman
Strengths: Versatility| Defends: 1- 5| Signature Skill: Athleticism|
Wilkinson is one of the best defenders in the country. Eventually I’m going to create my National All Defense team, he’ll be on there. His combination of upper body strength, size and athleticism make him a special defender.
2. Anthony Hunter 5’11 PG Durango
Strengths: On Ball Defense| Defends: 1-2| Signature Skill: Quickness|
Shocked there isn’t a warrant out for Hunter’s arrest yet. The 5’11 PG is one of the best pickpockets in the state. Highly competitive guard that loves to get under ballhanders. Extremely quick hands that allows him to get clean steals that he turns into easy baskets.
3. Jaylon Lee 6’8 C Arbor View
Strengths: Rim Protection| Defends: 4-5| Signature Skill: Upper Body Strength|
Protect the rim and hold them to 1 shot. If you have Jaylon Lee on your team, you have a much better chance to do those 2 things. Wide body banger that gobbles up rebounds. Lee forces post players to catch the ball out of their comfort zone and is great at using his upper body strength and size to wall off drivers.
4. Mehki Walker 6’4 PF Cimarron
Strengths: Interior Defense| Defends: 3- 5| Signature Skill: Quick 2nd jump|
Love Walker’s game. Cimarron plays a pressure in your face style. They can be confident knowing that Walker is behind them. Good athlete that is able to get off the ground quickly to effect shots. Walker is agile enough to switch and hedge ball screens and can serve as a rim protector at his size.
5. Zarius Benson Moore 6’4 SG Canyon Springs
Strengths: Perimeter Defense| Defends: 1- 3| Signature Skill: Length|
Lot of people don’t know about ZBM. If he does what’s he’s supposed to, every offensive player in the city will know him before the end of the season. Absolute dog on the defensive end. Moore takes pride in cutting off the head of opposing teams offenses. Good athlete with long arms, he gives trouble to all perimeter players.
6. Dante Davis 5’10 PG Liberty
Strengths: On Ball Defense| Defends: 1| Signature Skill: Low center of gravity, powerful upper body|
Davis may have been higher on this list if he spent more time defending other positions. As it is he is an elite defender of PG’s with the size and strength to dominate ballhandlers. Cerebral player. You can almost see him measuring the dribbles of opposing guards. Difficult to go by him, and larger guards often find themselves unsuccessful posting up against him.
