With nearly 200 total prospects ranked, I think it’s fair to say mission accomplished. Over the next few weeks PH will be taking an in – depth look at the player rankings, including positional breakdowns, stock risers and new additions to the list. Player rankings are always a fluid situation, and the current rankings are a reflection of player accomplishments up to 10.23.19. They do not take into account players 2019-2020 high school Season accomplishments. In this article PH takes a look at the top 5 players in the C/O 2022.
1. Jaxon Kohler 6’8 PF Coronado – If Kohler doesn’t make it in basketball he has a career as a ballerina. The forward has perhaps the best footwork of any player in the class. His post up bag includes drop steps, spin moves, and jump hooks. Plays with terrific patience and understands how to use pump fakes to keep defenders off balance. Great addition to the Prep basketball scene in Nevada. Kohler already has offers from several D1 programs.
2. Max Allen 6’8 C Bishop Gorman – “Big Max” has added to his game by changing his body. If not for the arrival of Kohler, Allen would be the clear cut #1. Always a skilled post player, Max has slimmed down and now has the ability to play as a fluid and explosive floor runner. Great fundamentals, high IQ, terrific hands. Combine those attributes with his size and strength and Max is one of the most dominant players in the state. He’ll be a single cover at your own risk player for opponents this year. If they do, expect him to have some monster nights.
3. Milos Uzan 6’3 PG Desert Pines – If you’re looking for a PG to run your team, look no further than Uzan. Son of a coach with an elite basketball IQ. Uzan has the ability to get anywhere on the floor that he wants. Special passer with the ability to throw his teammates open. When the ball is in his hands, you just get the feeling that Uzan will make the correct decision.
4. Joshua Jefferson 6’6 PF Liberty – Jefferson highlights the depth of bigs in the class. One of the most skilled post players in the country, Jefferson is an absolute technician down low. One of the best things that he does, is uses his dribble to set up his post moves. I’ve watched Jefferson catch it at 18, recognize a mismatch take one dribble, and then turn his back to his defender and score. An elaborate combination of moves that lasted all of 5 seconds from catch to finish.
5. Andrick Santillian 6’4 SG Cheyenne – It’s time for Santillian to get some more love. The 6’4 wing has a terrific skill – set, and plays on one of the toughest summer circuits in America. Versatile player that can post up, dribble drive, or make plays with his passing. Playing alongside top C/O 2021 player Glenn Taylor should really benefit him, as defenses will have to load up to stop Taylor.
