This year in Nevada, we’re fortunate to have several players that fit this description. In this article PH takes a look at some of the top wings that made the C/O 2020 rankings.
Julian Strawther 6’6 Liberty #2 – What’s not to love about the future Gonzaga recruit. Has the size and strength of a prototypical college Wing. 6’6 shoots it with range and is an explosive athlete. Strawther scores in transition, off dribble drives and by gobbling offensive rebounds. Impossible matchup at the Prep level as most players his size play primarily in the post.
M’Wani Wilkinson 6’6 Bishop Gorman #4 – Wilkinson is a two legged pogo stick. Elite defender that can guard every position on the floor. Reminds me of a young version of Cedric Ceballos. World class athlete that doesn’t need a play run for him to score.
Braden Lamar 6’5 Bishop Gorman #10 – Lamar is a pure shooter with a professional touch. Underrated athlete, and a willing defender. Lamar understands how to use his size to score inside against smaller players. He moves well without the ball, allowing him to free himself from longer more athletic defenders.
Ray Daniels 6’6 Somerset #22 – Scoring machine. Daniels can get his in a variety of ways. Scores off the bounce, in transition and is able to turn defense into offense. Long defender that can guard 1-4 at the prep level. Daniels is going to put up monster numbers this season.
Jhadon Banks 6’5 Canyon Springs #31 – Depending on what day you catch Banks play, you may be watching a high major prospect. Explosive athlete that gets off the ground in a hurry. Has the size and frame to be a dominating wing player at the college level. Scores in transition, off offensive rebounds and post up mismatches.
Jeremiah Beckwood 6’5 Desert Valley Prep #42 – Beckwood is a highly skilled athlete at his best when playing downhill in transition. A versatile player that contributes in a variety of ways. In any particular game, you may catch Beckwood running point, defending wings, or posting up smaller players.
James Webster 6’4 Spring Valley #47 – Webster is a good example of the depth in this class. A powerful athlete that excels at getting to the rim. He can defend 1 through 3, and is an elite rebounder for his position. Similar to Wilkinson, Webster doesn’t need plays run for him. He can get you buckets off putbacks and in transitions.
