It’s the big’s who make their jobs easier by controlling the paint and bringing the physical element the game needs. The 2020 class in Nevada has a number of standout big’s lets take a look at a few who ranked high on our list.
Dario Domingos 6’7 PF Desert Valley Prep 2020 #11– His calling card is his physicality he has a strong body build kind of like former Celtic Glen “Big Baby” Davis. Domingos is a big strong banger with really nimble feet for his size. He has unlimited moves around the basket. He is a throwback big. There was a time in basketball where you looked at a big man like Hakeem Olajuwon and said there’s no way a person that big should move so gracefully and watching Domingos I get that same thought. This is a young man that is going to be doubled often. His IQ is high enough to pass out of a murky situation. And he has great touch from deep. The strongest part of his game is he likes playing in a phone booth. He seeks contact. If you jump on his back he will take you with him and still finish. Once a defender is on his hip, its a foul or bucket and their is no way around that.
Darnell Washington 6’7 Desert Pines 2020 #13 – Washington is the best athlete I have ever seen! I have a feeling we will be hearing his name for a long time. As a football player he is a 5 star recruit with looks from Alabama, Georgia, Florida all the top schools in America. In basketball he is one of the most premier rebounders in the state. He has naturally soft hands being a Tight End in football. That same physicality translates onto the basketball court. He is a glass eater. He could box out the sun if he had too. Washington may be the best end to end floor runner in the state. I compare it to him catching a deep post and running into the end-zone. On the offensive end he will make his money on second chance points and pure effort. If you are lackadaisical against Washington for a second he will capitalize on it.
Jaylon Lee 6’8 Arbor View 2020 #14 – Lee is a physical big bodied human. Weighing in the neighborhood of 240 he uses that body and then some. A terrific interior defender. He had a game vs Mater Dei where he posted a scary 17 rebounds and 9 blocks. Lee is an intimidating force inside. He has an innate ability to take the opposing player out of their comfort zone. He has deceptive speed for someone his size. If you nap for a second Lee is down the floor in transition. At 6’8 he can finish around the rim with ease. He has a soft stroke around the rim and if he puts his shoulder in your chest the defender will feel it.
Dennis Cash 6’7 Trinity International 2020 #20– Cash is one of the most versatile players in the state. Naturally a wing/forward. Cash had to play center for the undersized Trinity team. Cash brings hustle, effort, and energy to a position that was new to him. Effort alone makes him one of the most athletic big’s in the state. Cash runs the floor well. He’s going to get a ton of easy baskets from pick and roll opportunities with Dashien Nix. His development this season will be one worth watching. His low post game has so much potential. His value goes well beyond the stat sheet. His effort against premiere centers makes them often force bad shots which creates long rebounds to get his team into quick transition. If we talk about gems and diamonds in the rough Dennis Cash is Cash!
